Job Summary
A technically proficient and commercially driven Sales Engineer to lead our Automation and Control Systems business development efforts in Nigeria.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in solution selling of SCADA, PLCs, RTUs, Instrumentation, and Industrial Automation technologies to customers across the Oil & Gas, Power, and Industrial sectors.
Key Responsibilities
Identify and pursue sales opportunities for automation and control systems (SCADA, PLC, DCS, Instrumentation, etc.) across the Oil & Gas, Power, and Industrial sectors in Nigeria.
Develop a deep technical understanding of the company’s automation and control solutions to effectively present, demonstrate, and position offerings to technical and commercial stakeholders.
Engage with engineering, procurement, and operations teams of clients to understand their automation needs and recommend suitable products and solutions.
Conduct site visits, client meetings, and technical presentations to influence project specifications and secure orders from new and existing customers.
Develop and manage a healthy sales pipeline through CRM tools and structured outreach, ensuring conversion of prospects into long-term clients.
Provide pre-sales and limited post-sales technical support to ensure product fit, smooth delivery, and satisfaction of engineering expectations.
Collaborate with internal teams including CRE, Legal, Fiannce and other PANA subsidiary teams, and OEM partners to tailor solutions per client requirements and generate offers for the same.
Stay updated with market trends, competitor activity, and customer developments to provide market intelligence and suggest tactical actions.
Actively participate in industry forums, client events, technical exhibitions, and government/association meetings to promote company offering and identify business opportunities.
Build and maintain strong client relationships with consultants, EPCs, IOCs, and NOCs, with a special focus on developing and closing orders.
Contribute to the preparation of sales campaigns, tender submissions, technical proposals, and pricing strategies in collaboration with the bid team and senior management.
Monitor and report on risks, delivery challenges, or regulatory constraints affecting project execution or customer relationships, escalating to leadership when required.
Coordinate with OEMs and local partners for joint promotional campaigns, trainings, and technical seminars to increase product awareness
Ensure compliance with local content laws, registration requirements, and governmental approvals as applicable to project bids and supply.
Undertake any additional responsibilities assigned by management in line with business needs and strategic direction.
Travel as required both internally and externally to & fro Nigeria.
Academic Qualifications
Bachelor`s Degree Engineering, or its equivalent in any discipline.
7 years of experience in sales of Automation products and solutions.
Experience in O&G, Power sector
Prior work experience showing increasing levels of responsibility with a focus on operations in a fast paced and entrepreneurial environment.
Technical Skills:
Strong understanding of Automation & Control Systems: SCADA, PLC, DCS, RTUs, flow computers, HMIs, and related instrumentation.
Knowledge of industrial communication protocols (e.g., Modbus, Profibus, OPC, Ethernet/IP).
Familiarity with hazardous area classifications (ATEX/IECEx) and compliance requirements in Oil & Gas facilities.
Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, loop diagrams, and control architecture drawings.
Working knowledge of electrical panels, control cabinets, and field instrumentation (pressure, temperature, level, and flow sensors).
Understanding of Digital Transformation solutions in the energy domain (e.g., Digital Twins, Predictive Maintenance, IIoT platforms).
Sales & Commercial Skills:
Proven experience in solution selling to Oil & Gas operators, IOCs, NOCs, EPCs, and utility companies.
Capability to identify, qualify, and close business opportunities within long B2B sales cycles.
Strong negotiation and contract management skills.
Experience using CRM tools (Monday.com, Sales force etc.) to manage pipelines and forecast sales.
Understanding of local procurement processes, vendor registration, and public-sector bidding requirements (NIPEX, DPR, etc.).
Market Knowledge:
Familiarity with the Nigerian Oil & Gas industry landscape, including regulatory bodies (e.g., NUPRC, NCDMB) and local content requirements.
Knowledge of major operators like NNPC, Shell, TotalEnergies, Chevron, NLNG, and their procurement and technical evaluation standards.
Other Attributes:
Team-oriented, but capable of operating independently.
High level of initiative, ownership, and accountability.
Willingness to travel within Nigeria and West Africa for customer visits, site surveys, and project follow-ups.
