Job Summary
The Consultant will provide high-level technical and strategic support across Henak Consulting’s service lines, including proposal development, training delivery, and strategic advisory.
The Consultant will work closely with clients, support project delivery, co-lead workshops, and contribute to high-quality knowledge products.
This is a remote role suitable for a self-driven, detail-oriented professional with proven experience in nonprofit consulting or program management.
Purpose
Support Henak Consulting’s core consulting services through research, analysis, and advisory.
Lead and/or contribute to proposal writing, client strategy sessions, and document development.
Deliver capacity-building activities and support organizational development engagements.
Contribute to internal knowledge production, tool development, and learning.
Provide quality assurance across client deliverables.
Responsibilities
Consulting and Client Support:
Serve as technical lead or co-consultant on client assignments, including proposal development, needs assessments, strategic planning, and capacity assessments.
Coordinate client sessions (virtual or physical), summarize insights, and develop quality deliverables (grant proposals, strategies, concept notes, frameworks).
Support nonprofits in drafting and reviewing grant applications to donors such as USAID, FCDO, UN, EU, and private foundations.
Lead or support MEL framework design, budget alignment, and logframe development for proposals.
Training and Facilitation:
Facilitate or co-facilitate virtual and in-person training sessions on proposal writing, project management, fundraising, and organizational development.
Develop training materials, slide decks, session outlines, and participant handbooks.
Provide post-training support including coaching and mentorship to partner organizations.
Research and Content Development:
Conduct donor and sector landscape reviews and synthesize findings into client-facing reports.
Contribute to toolkits, guidance notes, and internal templates to strengthen Henak Consulting’s offerings.
Draft blog posts, insights, and knowledge briefs in collaboration with the Communications team.
Team Collaboration and Quality Assurance:
Review and edit client deliverables to ensure clarity, logic, and alignment with donor requirements.
Support junior team members or interns as needed, offering feedback and mentorship.
Participate in internal strategy meetings, innovation sprints, and after-action reviews.
Key Deliverables
High-quality proposals, concept notes, and strategic documents delivered to clients.
Minimum of 3 proposal inputs or reviews per month.
At least 2 training sessions co-facilitated per quarter.
Tools, templates, or guides developed to support consulting work.
Client feedback rated at 85% satisfaction or above.
Internal documentation, reports, and session notes submitted on time.
Performance Review
Consultant performance will be assessed based on:
Timeliness and quality of client deliverables
Client satisfaction and internal feedback
Contribution to innovation and knowledge development
Level of engagement in team and strategic activities
Willingness to learn and contribute beyond the TOR
Requirements
Education:
Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (Master’s degree is an asset)
Experience:
Minimum 2 years of experience in consulting, nonprofit program design, proposal development, or training.
Proven experience in drafting grant proposals or concept notes for donors (USAID, UN, EU, FCDO, etc.).
Familiarity with strategic planning, logframes, MEL design, or donor reporting.
Prior experience facilitating trainings or workshops is a strong advantage.
Skills and Competencies:
Exceptional writing, editing and communication skills.
Strong understanding of grant cycles, budgeting, logframes, and MEAL.
Excellent organizational, planning, and multitasking abilities.
Strong research, analytical, and presentation abilities.
Competence in Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, Canva, Zoom, and Trello.
Ability to work independently and manage competing deadlines.
Adaptability and learning mindset in a dynamic, startup environment.
Working Condition:
Fully remote role (with periodic physical retreats or client meetings if required).
Flexible work hours based on deliverables.
Requires a personal laptop and strong internet access.
Willingness to manage tight deadlines and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
Occasional weekend work may be required based on client priorities.
