Job Title: Human Resource (HR) Manager
Location: Abuja (FCT)
Reports to: Managing Director
Direct Reports: HR Officers, HR Assistants, Admin Staff
Main Function
The Human Resources (HR) Manager will oversee the HR function across the group, ensuring strategic alignment of people management practices with organizational objectives.
A key requirement for this role is the proven ability to design, implement, and manage Performance Management Systems (PMS) that drive productivity, accountability, and employee growth.
The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership, HR policy development expertise, and deep knowledge of HR best practices within a multi-company structure.
Role Responsibilities
HR Strategy and Policy Development:
Develop and implement HR strategies, policies, and procedures aligned with business objectives.
Ensure compliance with labor laws, regulatory requirements, and corporate governance standards.
Performance Management Systems (PMS)
Design, set up, and institutionalize robust performance management frameworks across the group.
Drive performance appraisals, KPI development, and succession planning.
Train managers and employees on PMS processes and ensure consistent application.
Talent Acquisition and Workforce Planning
Oversee end-to-end recruitment processes to attract, select, and retain top talent.
Develop manpower plans and ensure optimal staffing across subsidiaries.
Learning, Development, and Employee Engagement
Implement trainingprogramsthat build employee capacity and support career development.
Develop initiatives to boost employee engagement, culture building, and retention.
Compensation, Benefits, and Payroll Oversight
Ensure fair, competitive, and performance-driven compensation structures.
Supervise payroll administration and ensure accuracy in staff remuneration and benefits.
Employee Relations and Compliance
Serve as the point of contact for employee relations, conflict resolution, and disciplinary management.
Ensure a safe, fair, and compliant workplace across all subsidiaries.
Reporting and HR Analytics
Provide periodic HR reports to management, including workforce analysis, performance metrics, and turnover data.
Use HR analytics to support decision-making and continuous improvement.
Qualifications and Requirements
Education and Certifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, Industrial Relations, or related field.
HR professional certifications (e.g., CIPM, SHRM, CIPD) is an advantage.
Minimum of 7 years progressive HR experience, with at least 3 years in a managerial role.
Demonstrable experience in setting up and managing Performance Management systems is non-negotiable.
Experience working with diversified businesses or group structures is highly desirable.
Strategic HR Expertise:
Strong knowledge of HR principles, practices, and current labor laws.
Ability to align HR strategies with organizational goals.
Performance Management Competence
Proven expertise in KPI development, appraisal systems, and performance-driven culture.
Skilled in driving accountability and reward systems based on performance.
Ability to inspire and influence teams across multiple subsidiaries.
Communication and Interpersonal Skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong negotiation, conflict management, and problem-solving abilities.
Analytical and Tech Skills
Proficiency in HRIS, MS Office Suite, and HR analytics tools.
Data-driven mindset with the ability to use metrics to improve HR functions.
