Position Summary
The Consultant will provide high-level technical and strategic support across Henak Consulting’s service lines, including organizational development.
The Consultant will work closely with clients, support project delivery, co-lead workshops, and contribute to high-quality knowledge products.
This is a remote role suitable for a self-driven, detail-oriented professional with proven experience in nonprofit consulting or program management.
Purpose of the Role
The purpose of this role is to provide strategic guidance and technical expertise in organizational development to strengthen client institutions’ structures, systems, and human capital.
The Consultant will support Henak Consulting in diagnosing organizational challenges, designing tailored interventions, and facilitating change management processes that enhance performance, culture, and sustainability. By leveraging best practices in OD, the role ensures that clients are equipped to adapt, grow, and achieve their strategic objectives effectively.
Key Responsibilities
Organizational Assessment and Diagnosis:
Conduct organizational needs assessments to identify gaps in structure, processes, culture, and workforce capabilities.
Analyze existing policies, systems, and practices to determine alignment with strategic goals.
Facilitate stakeholder interviews, survey, and focus groups to gather insights on organizational effectiveness.
Strategy Development and Change Management:
Design and implement OD strategies that drive organizational transformation and long-term sustainability.
Develop change management frameworks and communication strategies to ensure smooth transitions.
Support leadership teams in articulating vision, mission, and core values to align staff with organizational goals.
Capacity Building and Talent Development:
Design and deliver training, coaching, and mentoring programs to strengthen leadership and workforce capacity.
Develop competency frameworks and career development pathways.
Support succession planning, talent retention, and employee engagement initiatives.
Process Optimization and Performance Management:
Review and re-engineer organizational processes to enhance efficiency and productivity.
Develop and implement performance management systems to track KPIs and staff performance.
Recommend digital tools and systems that improve organizational operations.
Culture and Leadership Development:
Facilitate team-building interventions to promote collaboration, trust, and accountability.
Support leadership in cultivating an inclusive, innovative, and high-performance culture.
Introduce strategies for diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) across the organization.
Advisory and Stakeholder Engagement:
Serve as a trusted advisor to leadership on organizational change and development initiatives.
Collaborate with external stakeholders, partners, and clients to strengthen organizational positioning.
Provide technical reports, policy briefs, and strategic recommendations to management.
Monitoring, Evaluation and Reporting:
Establish frameworks for monitoring the impact of OD interventions.
Track progress and prepare regular reports highlighting key achievements, challenges, and lessons learned.
Ensure that OD initiatives are evidence-based and aligned with organizational priorities.
Key Deliverables
Conduct comprehensive organizational assessments and diagnostics to identify structural, cultural, and operational gaps.
Design and implement OD interventions, frameworks, and tools tailored to client needs.
Develop change management strategies and support clients in driving organizational transformation.
Facilitate capacity-building sessions, workshops, and training programs for leaders, teams, and staff.
Produce high-quality reports, proposals, and presentations that translate OD findings into actionable insights.
Support clients in aligning organizational structures, processes, and people with strategic goals.
Monitor, evaluate, and document the impact of OD interventions, providing evidence-based recommendations for improvement.
Maintain effective client relationships, ensuring satisfaction and delivery of high-value consulting services.
Requirements
Education:
Bachelor's Degree in any relevant field (master’s degree is an asset)
Experience:
Minimum of 3 years of experience in consulting, nonprofit OD, HR, or management consulting.
Prior experience facilitating trainings or workshops is a strong advantage.
Skills and Competencies:
Exceptional writing, editing and communication skills.
Strong understanding of grant cycles, budgeting, logframes, and MEAL.
Excellent organizational, planning, and multitasking abilities.
Strong research, analytical, and presentation abilities.
Competence in Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, Canva, Zoom, and Trello.
Ability to work independently and manage competing deadlines.
Adaptability and learning mindset in a dynamic, startup environment.
Working Condition:
Fully remote role (with periodic physical retreats or client meetings if required).
Flexible work hours based on deliverables.
Requires a personal laptop and strong internet access.
Willingness to manage tight deadlines and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
Occasional weekend work may be required based on client priorities.
