Director, Works and Services at the Federal Polytechnic Offa

The Federal Polytechnic Offa came out of gestation via a presidential announcement made during a courtesy call on His Royal Highness, Olofa of Offa, late Oba Mustapha Olawoore Olanipekun Ariwajoye II, by the then Military President, Gen. Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida, who was on an official visit to Kwara State in 1991. The Polytechnic has two Campuses (Main and Mini). The Main Campus is located along Ojoku Road, Offa while the Mini Campus is located along Osogbo Road, Offa, Kwara State.

Job Title: Director, Works and Services

Location: Offa, Kwara

Duties

• The Director of Works responsible to the Rector for the Polytechnic overall control of Works and Services Department.
• He provides strategies for the provision of efficient services in lino with the Institutional goals.
• He advises the Rector on the acquisition of assets for the Polytechnic and also plans the operation of plants and machinery as well as the maintenance of buildings in the constituent units of the Polytechnic.
• He is expected to prepare the Works Department budget and exercise budgetary control. He keeps inventory of the Polytechnic vehicles and responsible for their maintenance.

Academic Qualifications and Qualities

• A good Degree / HND from a University or Polytechnic in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Civil Engineering, from a recognized University.
• Must have at least 18 years post qualification cognate experience.
• Must be registered with relevant professional bodies i.e. COREN, NSE for Civil/Structural Engineers.
• Must provide evidence of sustained professional practice and for administrative leadership.
• Must show evidence of involvement in construction and project management.
• Must be proficient in Information and Communication Technology (ICT).
• Must be able to work under pressure and meet short deadlines.
• Must be an individual with impeccable character.
• Must not be more than 59 years of age at the time he/she assumes duty.

Terms of Appointment and Conditions of Service

• The appointment is for a term of Five (5) years and no more.
• The salary for the position is CONTEDISS 15 while other terms and conditions of appointment are as provided by the conditions of service of the Federal Polytechnics in Nigeria and as may be determined from time to time by the Federal Government of Nigeria or the Governing Council of the Polytechnic.
• The appointee shall enjoy other benefits of office as may be approved from time to time by the Federal Government.
