Job Title: Procurement Officer
Location: Port Harcourt, Rivers

Description
The Procurement Officer will be responsible for managing the procurement process within the group businesses in marine industry etc, including the acquisition of goods, services, and equipment related to marine operations both locally and internationally.
Liaise with OEMs and manufacturers to procure equipment as per company recommendations.
Engage with User departments to understand their procurement needs and ensure timely supplies.
Prepare proforma invoices, receipts, and other financial documents for vendor/clients use.
Follow up with Vendors/clients on payment renewals and outstanding balances.
Maintain regular communication with clients on business-related matters.
Work closely with management to ensure smooth procurement operations.
Maintain accurate records of purchases, deliveries, and client interactions.
Ensure compliance with procurement policies and industry regulations.
Perform research to identify new marine equipment trends and make recommendations.
You will collaborate with various departments, suppliers, and contractors to ensure the smooth supply of materials while maintaining high standards of quality, compliance, and cost control.
The role requires strong negotiation skills, a solid understanding of marine industry requirements, and the ability to manage multiple procurement projects simultaneously.
And other tasks as would be assigned.
Responsibilities
Identify, source, and purchase materials, equipment, and services required for marine operations, including vessels, offshore platforms, maintenance, and safety equipment.
Manage supplier relationships and negotiate terms, prices, and contracts to ensure favourable conditions for the company.
Review and evaluate supplier performance to ensure timely deliveries, product quality, and cost efficiency.
Coordinate with internal departments (Operations, Engineering, HSE, etc.) to ensure procurement requirements are clearly understood and met.
Develop and maintain procurement strategies to improve operational efficiency and cost savings.
Prepare and issue purchase orders, ensuring all relevant documentation is complete and accurate.
Monitor inventory levels and liaise with stores to ensure the availability of critical supplies.
Ensure all procurement activities comply with internal policies, industry standards, and legal regulations.
Maintain accurate records of all procurement transactions, contracts, and vendor agreements.
Support the preparation of budgets and cost reports related to procurement activities.
Assist with resolving any procurement-related issues or disputes, including delays, quality concerns, and discrepancies.
Stay informed about market trends, new products, and technological advancements in the marine industry.
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in Accountancy, Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Marine Engineering, or a related field.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in procurement, preferably within the marine or offshore industry.
Strong understanding of the marine industry’s supply chain, equipment, and service requirements.
Marine equipment and spare parts experiences sourcing and purchases is an added advantage.
Salary
N150,000 - N250,000 Monthly.
