About the role
The Grants & Programme Development Lead plays a key role in advancing the mission of PUNCH Media Foundation by driving high-quality proposal development, supporting donor engagement, and contributing to the successful implementation of development-focused projects.
The officer will lead the identification of funding opportunities, development of grant proposals, and management of donor relations, while also overseeing the design and execution of impactful projects aligned with PMF's strategic priorities, particularly in health, environment, education, social justice, and governance.
This role requires a proactive, highly organised, and strategic thinker with strong writing and communication skills, a passion for development work, and the ability to manage programmes from ideation to impact.
The ideal candidate will be an experienced professional who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and is committed to using media and communication as tools for positive change.
Responsibilities
Grants and Proposal Development:
Lead the technical writing and coordination of compelling concept notes, proposals, and donor reports in collaboration with programme. communications, and finance teams.
Monitor relevant grant opportunities, requests for proposals (RFPs), and donor calls aligned with PMF's mission and strategic direction.
Support the Head of Programmes and Research in responding to strategic donor engagement efforts, including gathering materials, drafting pitch decks, and preparing briefs.
Develop and maintain a donor information database, including deadlines, requirements, and communication logs, Ensure proposals and reports are delivered in a timely, high-quality, and donor-compliant manner.
Programme Coordination and Implementation:
Support the development and planning of new projects by drafting implementation plans, activity schedules, and M&E inputs.
Coordinate assigned project activities including trainings, stakeholder engagements, content production, or advocacy initiatives,
Track implementation progress, support documentation efforts, and contribute to project review meetings.
Liaise with implementing partners, consultants, and vendors as necessary to ensure smooth project delivery.
Internal Coordination and Institutional Support:
Work closely with the Head of Programmes and Research to align proposals with institutional priorities and available capacities.
Contribute to PMF's programme development pipeline by tracking sector trends and funding landscapes.
Provide input to external communications, donor briefs, visibility materials, and success stories related to grant-funded work.
Maintain internal knowledge and grant filing systems to ensure continuity and institutional memory.
Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Development Studies, Mass Communication, Social Sciences, or related field.
3-5 years of progressive experience in grant writing, programme management, donor engagement, or related roles in the development or media sectors.
Proven success in securing and managing institutional or foundation grants.
Strong understanding of development trends, donor landscapes, and media-for-development programming in Nigeria.
Excellent communication, writing, and presentation SkillS.
Proficient in proposal budgeting, project design tools, and reporting systems.
Self-driven, collaborative, and passionate about using media to drive social impact.
