We are recruiting to fill the position below:
Job Title: Civic Education Teacher
Location: Abuja (FCT)
Employment Type: Full-time
Job Purpose
To instill in students the knowledge, values, attitudes, and skills needed to become responsible, active, and patriotic citizens who contribute positively to society, while preparing them for internal and external examinations.
Key Responsibilities
Teaching & Learning:
Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging Civic Education lessons in line with the national curriculum (WAEC/NECO or [insert relevant curriculum]).
Develop lesson plans and teaching resources that promote active participation, critical thinking, and value-based learning.
Integrate real-life case studies, debates, role-plays, and discussions to help students understand citizenship, rights, responsibilities, and governance.
Differentiate teaching methods to cater for diverse learning needs.
Assessment & Evaluation:
Design and administer classwork, assignments, projects, and examinations.
Provide constructive feedback to students and communicate progress with parents/guardians.
Keep accurate and up-to-date records of student performance.
Student Development:
Foster in students a sense of civic responsibility, respect for diversity, and commitment to ethical conduct.
Encourage active participation in school clubs, community service, leadership roles, and social impact projects.
Mentor students for debates, public speaking, and essay competitions relating to civic issues.
Professional & Administrative Duties:
Maintain discipline and order in the classroom in line with school policies.
Participate actively in staff meetings, training, and curriculum review sessions.
Collaborate with colleagues to integrate civic values across other subjects and school activities.
Keep abreast of national policies, governance issues, and contemporary social matters to enrich teaching.
Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Civic Education, Political Science, Social Studies, Law, or related field.
A Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE), B.Ed, or equivalent teaching qualification is an advantage.
Professional teaching certification (TRCN or equivalent) desirable.
Experience:
At least 2 - 3 years teaching Civic Education or related subjects at secondary school level.
Experience preparing students for WAEC/NECO examinations preferred.
Experience guiding students in community service or leadership programs is an added advantage
Skills & Competencies:
Strong knowledge of Nigerian constitution, governance, civic rights, and responsibilities.
Ability to inspire patriotism, ethical values, and civic responsibility.
Excellent communication, debate moderation, and classroom engagement skills.
Competence in using ICT tools and digital resources to support teaching.
Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.

Salary
N180,000 - N210,000 monthly.
