Position Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Legal Associate with a strong background in legal practice and corporate law to join our dynamic team.
The ideal candidate will possess excellent legal acumen, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to delivering exceptional client service.
Key Responsibilities
Corporate Law Practice:
Provide legal advisory services to clients on corporate governance, regulatory compliance, and company secretarial duties.
Draft, review, and negotiate commercial contracts, agreements, and other legal documents.
Assist in the incorporation of companies, restructuring, and corporate filings.
Legal Advisory & Representation:
Advise clients on various legal matters, including risk management, intellectual property, and dispute resolution.
Represent clients in negotiations, mediations, and other legal proceedings as necessary.
Client Relationship Management:
Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, ensuring timely and accurate communication of legal advice.
Understand client goals and tailor legal solutions to their needs.
Research & Analysis:
Conduct thorough legal research and provide actionable insights on emerging legal trends, policies, and regulations.
Prepare detailed legal opinions, reports, and memoranda.
Compliance & Due Diligence:
Support clients in ensuring compliance with local and international regulatory frameworks.
Conduct legal due diligence for mergers, acquisitions, and other transactions.
Continuous Learning & Development:
Stay updated on developments in legal practice and participate in training sessions to enhance expertise.
Qualifications & Skills
Bachelor’s Degree in Law (LL.B) and Call to Bar certification.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in legal practice, with a focus on corporate law and commercial transactions.
Strong knowledge of corporate governance, regulatory compliance, and legal advisory.
Excellent drafting, negotiation, and communication skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Exceptional attention to detail and analytical skills.
Proficiency in legal research tools and Microsoft Office Suite.
Key Skills & Competencies:
Strong drafting and negotiation skills.
Deep understanding of Nigerian corporate and commercial laws, including CAMA, SEC Rules, Tax Laws, IP Laws, and sector-specific regulations.
Ability to manage multiple transactions or advisory matters simultaneously.
Commercial awareness and understanding of client business models.
Excellent research, writing, and analytical skills.
Leadership, mentoring, and team management capability.
Strong client relationship management skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools and legal research platforms (e.g., LawPavilion, LexisNexis, etc.
