Médecins Sans Frontières is a private, international organisation. The organisation is made up mainly of doctors and health sector workers and is also open to all other professions which might help in achieving its aims.

Médecins Sans Frontières provides assistance to populations in distress, to victims of natural or man-made disasters and to victims of armed conflict. They do so irrespective of race, religion, creed, or political convictions.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Cleaner

Location: Maiduguri, Borno
Employment Type: Fixed Term Renewable
Contract Period: Definite (Subject to renewwal after a successful completion of the probation period)

Main Purpose

• Execute, according to hygienic standards, housekeeping, cleaning, and tiding up activities in order to ensure public and staff private areas are in good condition.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

• Clean bedrooms, bathrooms, toilets, and other rooms in MSF houses.
• Do the laundry iron clothes and other housekeeping activities.
• Support the cook (washing up, cleaning the kitchen, etc.).
• Sweep and mop the floors.
• Restock supplies (toilet paper, soap, etc.) as required.
• Upon arrival, prepare hot water for tea/coffee and refill drinking water.
• Check that the toilets are well stocked with paper, soap and condoms.
• Check that the water supply (kitchen, showers, etc.) is sufficient during water cuts.
• Keep premises properly locked (doors, windows).

Minimum Required Skills and Qualifications

• Education: Not required, literacy is desirable
• Experience: A minimum of one year experience as a Cleaner, MSF or other INGO experience as a Cleaner is desirable.
• Languages: Local language is essential, English is desirable.
