The Federal Polytechnic Bida was established in 1977 following a decision of the Federal Government of Nigeria to move the institution to Bida. Before then, it was Federal College of Technology, Kano.
The first academic session started in April 1978 with a population of 211 students and 11 senior staff, 33 junior staff. Federal Polytechnic, Bida is a Federal Government tertiary institution situated in Bida, Niger State, Nigeria. Currently, there are seven faculties in the institution.

Job Title: Director of Procurement

Responsibilities
The Director of Procurement is responsible to the Rector.
He/ She is expected to provide strategic leadership and oversight of the procurement function of the Federal Polytechnic, Bida, ensuring transparency, accountability, value for money, and full compliance with the Public Procurement Act 2007 and its extant guidelines in Nigeria.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
Lead the preparation and implementation of the Polytechnic's Annual Procurement Plan.
Oversee end-to-end procurement processes for goods, works, and services (planning, tendering, evaluation, award, and contract management).
Ensure compliance with the Public Procurement Act 2007, Financial Regulations, and circulars from the Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP).
Provide technical advice to the Polytechnic's Tenders Board, Procurement Planning Committee, and Project Teams.
Manage supplier pre-qualification, evaluation, and performance reviews.
Foster transparent relationships with contractors, consultants, and service providers.
Develop and maintain procurement performance dashboards and reports.
Present periodic procurement status updates to the Management of the polytechnic.
Qualifications & Experience Requirements
Must possess a Bachelor's degree with Honours or equivalent qualification in any of the following disciplines from a recognized institution: Economics, Business Administration, Accountancy, Law, Insurance, Banking and Finance, Marketing, Quantity Surveying, Engineering, Computer Science, Statistics, Purchasing and Supplies or related disciplines (Master's degree is an added advantage).
Must be proficient in Information and Communication Technology, and able to use standard software for procurement.
Minimum of 18 years of working experience, with at least 5 years in senior management.
Must have possessed a Bureau of Public Procurement conversion into a procurement cadre certificate.
Must have strong knowledge of the Public Procurement Act 2007 and related guidelines.
Must not be more than 59 years of age at the time he/she assumes duty.
Must show evidence of medical fitness for the position.
Terms of Appointment and Conditions of Service
The appointment is for a term of Five (5) years and no more.
The salary for the position is CONTEDISS 15 while other terms and conditions of appointment are as provided by the conditions of service of the Federal Polytechnics in Nigeria and as may be determined from time to time by the Federal Government of Nigeria or the Governing Council of the Polytechnic.
The appointee shall enjoy other benefits of office as may be approved from time to time by the Federal Government.
