• The Lily King Institute of Science & Technology (LiKIST), invites applications for a well- organized, innovative individual to join our organization as a Non-Tenured Instructor (NTI) at a major city in Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria.
• Applicants located at other cities or states may apply but, must consider and be prepared to relocate themselves and to reside at Eket in Akwa Ibom State; LiKIST shall not pay and/or contribute towards any relocations.
• LiKIST staff may be directed to assist in locating suitable temporary housing and long-term accommodations of the chosen applicants’ choice but, LiKIST nor its staff shall be financially responsible.

Job Summary

• The Non-Tenured Instructor (NTI) responsibilities include, but not limited to, developing course material and curricula, inspiring meaningful discussions, consulting with management, other academics and professionals, supervising learners, grading assignments, growing programs and being an active member of the organization.
• The NTI MUST be prepared to work long hours, travel, and expand the organization’s networks.
• To be successful as a Non-Tenured Instructor (NTI), candidate must demonstrate superior ability to apply skills for listening and communication, ability to inspire students with passion/enthusiasm for teaching, learner mentorship, learning, knowledge acquisition, skills development and practical applications of knowledge & skills.
• The LiKIST NTI must be an education progressive, an ideas individual that embraces use of innovative teaching and interactive/collaborative methods to assure learning and practical skills development.

Non-Exhaustive NTI Responsibilities

• Preparing and delivering lectures, tutorials, workshops, and seminars involving courses across a number of theoretical and practical modalities in the technical field and potentially electives in other areas.
• Developing curricula and course material that can be used across a number of platforms.Collaborating with other academics and lecturers to improve teaching methods and expand knowledge base.
• Setting and grading assignments, quizzes, tests, and exams.
• Conducting research, and writing papers, proposals, journal articles, and books.
• Attending and participating in meetings, conferences, and other events in and outside of the institution.
• Participating in training opportunities and initiatives at the institution.
• Providing support to students and other colleagues.
• Staying current by reading widely and producing published work in the field.
• Enforcing strict integrity and discipline within the LiKIST environments.

Non-Tenured Instructor (NTI) Requirements

• Graduate from an accredited higher academic institution (University, College of Technology or Polytechnic) in Engineering, Science, Mathematics or Technology/Technical discipline.
• Must demonstrate professional and personal integrity and discipline on an ongoing basis

• Must own a personal laptop computer and be adept at using it.
• Must be adept at using MS Word, MS Excel, MS Power Point productivity applications.
• Ability to inspire students with your passion for teaching, learning, knowledge acquisition, skills development and practical applications of knowledge & skills.
• Must be open to and willing to learn and adopt new ideas.
• Must be capable of handling progressive and constructive criticisms.
• Flexibility, resilience, and willingness to work long hours.
• Must be capable and willing to dress appropriately and professionally at all times
• Must be able to demonstrate very strong written and verbal communication skills in the English language.
• This requirement shall be tested as part of the selection process.
• Must be willing to take on additional assignments as may be required.
• Previous teaching experience is desired but not required.
• Published work would be advantageous but not required.

Compensation

• Negotiable on a 3-year basis and, based on selected candidate’s qualifications but, shall not be below
• N100,000/month (N1,200,000/year) starting point.

Job Interview:

• Selected applicants shall be interviewed remotely on a one-on-one basis or by a panel of interviewees at a selected date/time.
• Selected applicants shall be asked to write a clear and concise essay on “State of education, students’ attitude towards learning, knowledge/skills acquisition and applications in Nigeria” and to deliver a PowerPoint presentation on the essay to an interview panel.
• Candidates’ selection shall be 20% based upon substance and quality of their written essay and oral presentation of the essay.Do not send letters of recommendation from references; if selected for an interview, LiKIST shall request for the letters of recommendation after reaching decision on selection of candidates to interview.
