The College of Medicine was conceived by the founding fathers as a Medical School which is an autonomous entity within the University of Lagos. It was founded to produce highly trained medical manpower to provide specialized medical services and to conduct research into health-related problems. In October 1962, the first batch of 28 medical students was admitted into the College, and they received their first lectures on October 3, 1962.
Over the past 50 years, successive leadership of the College had worked tirelessly towards the realization of the lofty goals of making the Medical School the foremost College of Medicine located in the University of First Choice and the nation's pride. The College has grown remarkably. It now has three faculties: Basic Medical Sciences, Clinical Sciences and Dental Sciences. The Faculty of Dental Sciences is today the center of Excellence for Dentistry in Nigeria. The College consists of 32 departments with a student population of almost 2000 students and a staff strength of 1,850. The College has to date produced over 6,000 graduates in disciplines of Medicine, Dentistry, Microbiology, Physiotherapy, Physiology, Radiography and Pharmacology.

Job Title: Director of College Engineering Services
Location: Lagos
Duties
The Director of College Engineering Services is a Principal Officer of the College who is responsible to the Provost for the day-to-day running of the Engineering work of the College.
He/She is responsible for the coordination and supervision of the physical development of projects, ensuring quality standards and maintenance of structures in the College.
Furthermore, the candidate must be in good health, be ICT compliant and must not be older than fifty-five (55) years at assumption of duty. For the vacant post, the College seeks candidates with vision, proven academic distinction, managerial ability, with requisite professional skill and competence.
The candidates must be receptive to new ideas and willing to translate them into new projects in line with the Master Plan for Physical Development of the College.
Qualifications
Candidates must possess a B.Sc. Degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical/Electronic Engineering or any other relevant degree from a recognized Institution with a minimum of 2nd Class Lower Division plus NYSC Discharge Certificate or Evidence of Exemption. SSCE/NECO/GCE O/L credits in 5 subjects, Mathematics and English Language are compulsory.
Possession of a Master's Degree is compulsory. Ph.D. will be an added advantage.
The candidate must possess a professionally recognized certificate with a current practicing license, as well as not less than twenty (20) years post-qualification Engineering experience.
In addition, the candidates must have at least ten (10) years of relevant experience in a senior management position, preferably in a University or a comparable Institution.
Candidate must be registered with the Council for Regulation of Engineering (COREN) or the Council of Registered Builders of Nigeria (CORBON) and must be Computer literate with a working knowledge of relevant packages.
Salary
CONTISS 15.
Conditions of Service:
Appointment which will be on a permanent basis, would commence as soon as appointed.
A new appointee would be on probation for the first two years and would be considered for Confirmation of Appointment up to the retiring age thereafter, subject to satisfactory performance.
Other conditions of service are as contained in the Senior Staff Conditions of Service of the University of Lagos.
Tenure in Office is 5 years in the first instance and renewable for final 3 years subject to satisfactory performance.
