Overview
The position of Bursar will be vacant from 1 February 2026, when the incumbent Bursar will have completed her tenure.
To fill the vacancy, the Governing Council of the University hereby invites applications from interested and suitably qualified candidates who are able to match the requirements of our ideal prospect.
Responsibilities
The Bursar is a Principal Officer and the Chief Financial Officer of the University.
He / She is responsible to the Vice Chancellor for the day-to-day administration and control of the financial affairs of the University.
Requirements
Applicants for the position of Bursar must be distinguished Financial Experts with outstanding financial administrative pedigree, and successful managers of human and material resources. Specifically, the candidate must possess the following qualities:
A good honours Degree in Accounting, Finance, or any related discipline from a recognized institution
Full membership of a recognized professional accounting body such as ICAN, ANAN, or equivalent
Minimum of fifteen (15) years relevant post-qualification experience, with at least three (3) years at the level of Deputy Bursar or its equivalent in a University or comparable institution.
Proven competence in financial planning, budgeting, tresury management, and investment
Demonstrable capacity to initiate, coordinate, and implement new financial policies and procedures that will enhance the efficiency of the University's financial system
High degree of accountability, transparency, integrity, and strong leadership qualities
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with evidence of team building and mentoring ability
Practical knowledge of ICT applications and relevant accounting and financial management software
Ability to relate effectively with diverse stakeholders within and outside the University.
Must not be above 58 years of age as of their 2025 birthday anniversary
Job Tenure
The appointment shall be for a period of four (4) years in the first instance and renewable for another final term of four (4) yours, subject to satisfactory performance.
Remuneration and Conditions of Service
The remuneration is competitive and comparable to what obtains in other Nigerian Universities.
Other conditions of service and fringe benefits are as may be determined by the Governing Council from time to time.
