We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Legal Officer

Location: Port Harcourt, Rivers
Employment Type: Full-time

Key Responsibilities
Legal Advisory:

• Provide expert legal advice to senior management and other departments.
• Interpret laws, regulations, and legal frameworks relevant to the organization.

Compliance:

• Ensure the organization complies with all applicable laws and regulations.
• Develop and implement compliance programs and policies.

Contract Management:

• Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, agreements, and other legal documents.
• Monitor contractual obligations and manage contract disputes.

Litigation and Dispute Resolution:

• Represent the organization in legal proceedings, arbitration, or mediation.
• Coordinate with external legal counsel when necessary.

Risk Management:

• Identify potential legal risks and develop strategies to mitigate them.
• Conduct regular legal audits and assessments.

Policy Development:

• Develop and update internal policies and procedures to align with legal requirements.
• Train staff on legal and compliance matters.

Leadership:

• Supervise and mentor junior legal staff.
• Collaborate with other departments to achieve organizational goals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Law (LLB) is required; a Master’s degree (LLM) or equivalent is preferred.
• Admission to the bar or relevant legal accreditation.
• Minimum of 7–8years of experience in legal practice.
• Experience in managing complex legal cases and contracts.

• Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines.
• Strong leadership and team management abilities.
