As Product Manager for Alternate Channels, you will act as the CEO of a pivotal business line.
You will own the strategy, roadmap and commercial success of our alternate channels portfolio, covering agent banking, POS merchant acquiring, Distribution-led acquisition, banking, lending, and embedded finance (BaaS) partnerships.
You will build products and platforms that put Renmoney’s services in the hands of every Nigerian, transforming corner shops into financial hubs and everyday apps into credit access points.
This role demands strategic vision, hands-on execution, and strong commercial acumen.
You will manage the P&L, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and ensure that our channels deliver profitable growth while adhering to regulatory requirements.
Develop and champion a compelling product vision for alternate channels, aligned with Renmoney’s mission of financial inclusion and business growth.
Own the P&L for the alternate channels portfolio, setting pricing and revenue targets and managing costs to ensure profitability.
Conduct market analysis, competitor benchmarking and customer research to identify new opportunities across agent banking, POS acquiring, distribution-led lending and embedded finance.
Shape short- and long-term roadmaps for each channel, driving synergy with Renmoney’s core digital products.
Product Lifecycle Management & Execution:
Lead the end-to-end product development lifecycle from ideation, requirements gathering and user story creation to launch, iteration and retirement.
Agent Banking: Design and enhance the agent platform (mobile and USSD) to facilitate deposits, withdrawals, transfers, bill payments and loan origination. Build a best-in-class agent onboarding and management system.
POS Merchant Acquiring: Develop a differentiated value proposition for merchants. Oversee the strategy for POS devices, settlement processes and value-added services such as merchant lending and inventory management.
Distribution-Led Lending: Design and launch credit products that can be offered through partners (e.g., retail chains, device financiers, agent networks), balancing growth with prudent risk management.
Embedded Finance (BaaS): Define our API product suite, enabling third-party fintechs and businesses to integrate Renmoney’s credit and financial services into their platforms.
Growth, Efficiency & Customer Experience:
Collaborate with Sales and Marketing to design and execute acquisition and activation strategies for agents and merchants.
Drive performance against numeric targets
Increase the number of active agents and merchants by ≥30% year-over-year.
Grow the value and volume of loans and savings balances disbursed via alternate channels by ≥40%.
Reduce onboarding and transaction turnaround times by ≥25%.
Improve cost per acquisition (CPA) by ≥15% while maintaining healthy unit economics.
Establish feedback loops with agents, merchants and partners and use data to drive continuous improvement in product features and processes.
Champion a world-class experience for all stakeholders and ensure high Net Promoter Scores (NPS), targeting a ≥20‑point improvement.
Compliance & Risk Management:
Ensure all alternate channels adhere to Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) regulations and other applicable standards. Maintain 100% KYC compliance and zero major regulatory incidents.
Work closely with Risk, Compliance and Legal teams to design products and processes that minimize fraud and support robust credit risk management. Maintain a non-performing loan (NPL) rate below 5% for loans disbursed via alternate channels.
Lead regular audits and embed controls throughout the product lifecycle.
Success Metrics / KPIs
Your performance will be measured against clear, quantifiable KPIs that directly tie to business outcomes:
Scale & Reach: ≥30% YoY growth in active agents and merchants; monthly transaction volume and value targets for agent banking and POS acquiring.
Portfolio Growth: ≥40% YoY growth in loan disbursement and savings balances via alternate channels; maintain NPL rates under 5%.
Profitability: Achieve revenue and net transaction value (NTV) targets for each channel; manage the portfolio’s P&L to ensure profitable growth.
Efficiency & Quality: Reduce agent/merchant onboarding time and loan/savings processing turnaround times by ≥25%; maintain high transaction success rates (TSR) and improve CPA by ≥15%.
Compliance & Risk: 100% KYC compliance and zero major regulatory findings; robust fraud detection and risk mitigation.
Satisfaction: Achieve a ≥20‑point improvement in NPS for agents, merchants and partners; deliver best-in-class support and service resolution times.
Requirements
5–7 years of product management or channel management experience in fintech, banking, payments or digital services.
Hands-on experience launching and scaling at least one of the following: agent banking networks, POS merchant acquiring, B2B2C lending products, or embedded finance APIs.
Proven track record managing a product P&L and executing growth strategies in emerging markets.
Strong analytical and quantitative skills; proficiency in SQL, Excel, Mixpanel/Amplitude or similar analytics tools.
Excellent stakeholder management and leadership skills; ability to influence cross-functional teams and engage senior stakeholders.
Deep understanding of the Nigerian financial services regulatory landscape, particularly CBN guidelines on agent banking, POS acquiring, KYC and consumer protection.
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering or a related field; MBA or relevant certification (e.g., Certified Scrum Product Owner) is a plus.
