Job Title: Senior Internal Control & Finance Officer
Location: Abuja (FCT) (Hybrid – occasional travel)

Role Overview
The Senior Internal Control & Finance Officer is a strategic governance and financial integrity role responsible for ensuring that the organization remains financially sound, compliant, and efficient across all operations.
The role is designed to safeguard company assets, streamline internal processes, strengthen accountability, and ensure accurate and timely financial reporting aligned with international best practices and W2A’s growth trajectory.
This individual will play a central role in managing liquidity, maintaining cash flow discipline, ensuring budget adherence, and driving accountability across all departments and entities under the W2A Group.
Reporting directly to both the Group CEO and the Senior Lead, Strategic Finance & Group Operations, this role will serve as a bridge between operational finance and executive oversight—ensuring that every Naira and Dollar across the group is well-justified, traceable, and strategically deployed.
Key Responsibilities
Internal Control and Governance:
Develop, implement, and continuously strengthen internal control systems across W2A International (HoldCo) and all subsidiaries (W2A Capital, W2A Trade, W2A Connect, W2A Impact Foundation).
Conduct regular compliance and process audits to assess financial integrity and operational efficiency.
Identify control gaps, propose mitigations, and oversee implementation to reduce risk exposure.
Ensure segregation of duties, appropriate authorization levels, and complete audit trails across all financial transactions.
Monitor adherence to company policies, statutory regulations, and donor agreements.
Serve as the organization’s compliance conscience—ensuring decisions are financially sound and ethically aligned.
Financial Oversight, Liquidity, and Cash Flow Management:
Monitor group-wide liquidity and cash flow, ensuring adequate balance between obligations and operational needs.
Maintain and analyze cash flow forecasts, highlighting shortfalls, surpluses, and required adjustments.
Enforce budget discipline—ensuring departments and projects stay within approved budgets.
Evaluate financial variances and implement corrective actions to prevent overspending or inefficiency.
Consolidate financial data from all subsidiaries into accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual group reports.
Ensure proper reconciliation of bank accounts, vendor ledgers, payrolls, and project accounts.
Monitor project-level financial performance (especially donor and investor-funded projects like AGRA, UNDP, NDPI, and Baltic Cocoa).
Support the CEO and Finance Lead with insights for investment planning, debt management, and capital allocation decisions.
Systems, Tools, and Process Optimization:
Oversee effective utilization of Zoho Books, Zoho Expense, and Zoho People, ensuring accuracy and integration across entities
Risk Management and Compliance
Leadership Support & Cross-Departmental Collaboration.
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related discipline (Master’s or professional certification such as ACA, ACCA, CPA preferred).
6–8 years progressive experience in finance, internal control, or audit, ideally in a multi-entity, donor-funded, or multinational environment.
Demonstrated experience in cash flow management, liquidity planning, and group financial consolidation.
Strong knowledge of IFRS, tax compliance, internal control frameworks, and audit procedures.
Proficiency in Zoho Books, Excel, and related accounting tools.
High integrity, analytical strength, and exceptional attention to detail.

Strong analytical and forecasting capability (especially around liquidity and budget performance).
Excellent communication, reporting, and coordination skills.
