GPON is presently operating in the Northeastern regional part of Nigeria where we have reached over 100,000 lives with relief materials, child protection services. GBV mitigation services, livelihood skill-building, health services, and Education support services.

Job Title: MEAL Coordinator
Location: Maiduguri, Borno
Employment Type: Permanent - Full Time
Duration: 8months (with Possibility of extension)
Roles and Responsibilities
The MEAL Coordinator is responsible for establishing and maintaining a comprehensive MEAL system to support the organization’s projects and programs. The key responsibilities include:
MEAL System Development:
Develop and build a robust MEAL system tailored to the operational needs of GPON.
Establish clear guidelines and processes for monitoring, evaluation, accountability, and learning within all GPON programs.
Develop and maintain a GPON database for efficient data collection, quick analysis, and storage, ensuring the system can provide evidence-based information to support decision-making, proposal development, and program improvement.
Leadership and Team Management:
Lead and manage the MEAL team in their efforts to monitor and evaluate the implementation of GPON projects.
Build capacity within the MEAL team, ensuring they have the skills and resources necessary to effectively carry out their tasks.
Provide ongoing support and mentorship to MEAL staff to enhance team performance and productivity.
Monitoring and Evaluation:
Develop key indicators and methodologies for evaluating the effectiveness of GPON's projects and programs.
Conduct regular field visits to monitor project implementation and assess the progress of activities against set objectives and targets.
Provide detailed reports and recommendations to management on project performance, challenges, and opportunities for improvement.
Accountability and Learning:
Promote accountability mechanisms within GPON’s projects to ensure that feedback from beneficiaries and stakeholders are integrated into program adjustments and improvements.
Document lessons learned from GPON’s projects and share them with management and relevant stakeholders to enhance future program design and implementation.
Deliverables:
The MEAL Coordinator shall be responsible for delivering the following:
A comprehensive MEAL system for GPON, including tools, processes, and guidelines.
An operational GPON database to facilitate data management, analysis, and reporting.
Regular MEAL reports, including evaluations, assessments, and recommendations for program improvement.
Documentation of lessons learned and the integration of learning into future programming.
Contributions to proposal development, including monitoring frameworks and evaluation plans.
Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences, Statistics, Development Studies, or a related field (Master’s degree is an added advantage).
Minimum of 4 years of experience in monitoring, evaluation, and learning within NGOs/humanitarian or development contexts.
Proven experience in designing and implementing MEAL frameworks, tools, and systems.
Strong skills in data management, analysis, and reporting (SPSS, STATA, Excel, Kobo, ODK, or similar software).
Familiarity with donor reporting requirements.
Experience in capacity building and mentoring staff on MEAL.
Excellent communication, facilitation, and report-writing skills.
