Job Function
The Supervisor – Transport Operations (Product Management) is responsible for overseeing and coordinating all products and breakage-related activities, ensuring efficient processes, accountability, and compliance with organizational standards.
This role involves supervising the Controller - Breakages, all the Breakages Control Officers (BCOs) and Products & Breakages Officer, reconciling breakage reports across multiple stakeholders, locations, and supporting the business with valuable data insights.
The Senior Fleet Controller Products Management will advocate for operational excellence and maintain robust reporting and analysis systems to ensure accurate records and effective consequence management.
Key Performance Areas
Supervision & Oversight:
Lead and supervise Product and Breakages Controllers and Breakages Control Officers (BCOs) and Products & Breakages Officer to ensure optimal performance and adherence to company policies.
Monitor and evaluate the activities of BCOs, Product & Breakages Controller, providing guidance, training, and feedback as required.
Serve as the primary escalation point for unresolved or complex breakages issues with the client and customers.
Monitor loaded products at loading breweries, warehouses, depots and other loading points including loading patterns, strapping, strength, and condition of the wooden pallets.
Monitor offloading of products at customer locations, external warehouses, depots and other offloading points including accuracy of input into apps and waybills.
Approval of breakages input on iManager by Products & Breakages Officer to ensure sufficient document upload and accurate data.
Breakage & Reconciliation Management:
Oversee the tracking, monitoring, and documentation of breakages for all vehicles across all trips.
Reconcile breakage reports with client records, PBO reports, and finance records to ensure alignment and accuracy.
Review unaccounted breakages reported by PBO and liaise with Senior Fleet Controllers for appropriate consequence management.
Supervise daily reconciliation with client representatives on-site and ensure signed records are maintained for debit purposes including review of Lopis report
Ensure the preparation and maintenance of comprehensive breakage and delivery records across branches, for weekly or monthly reporting.
Operational Excellence:
Oversee sorting supervision for empties returned from trade at breweries, ensuring compliance with agreed standards.
Enforce strict review processes for debits from clients and ensure thorough reconciliation of discrepancies.
Advocate for the use and implementation of the agreed NB’s breakages/shortages standard operational procedures to maintain industry best practices and enhance operational efficiency.
Engage RLM and Head, customer excellence unit of NB to ensure SOP application
Engage customers, distributors, warehouses, and other offloading points on huge returns of products.
Fleet & Logistics Support:
Support Fleet Controllers in tracking and analyzing daily trip details for all trucks within the fleet.
Ensure accurate records of truck odometer readings, loading locations, and quantities are maintained and reconciled.
Collaborate with Fleet controllers and the SCs in the documentation and analysis of logistics data to provide actionable insights.
Reporting & Analysis:
Prepare and present comprehensive weekly reports on breakages, reconciliations, and operational highlights to the DTMS/ Manager Finance.
Analyse trends in breakage incidents and recommend actionable measures to minimize occurrences.
Ensure detailed sorting records are kept and constantly be up to date in the retrieval and documentation of waybills from the Nigerian Breweries Logistics for accurate reporting.
Ensure accurate reporting of accident cases, debit amounts, and indemnity from insurance.
Qualifications Required
Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Transportation Management, or a related field.
Experience and Skills Required:
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in logistics or fleet operations, with at least 2 years’ experience in a supervisory or senior role.
Manufacturing experience.
Transport and Logistics experience with focus on product handling and breakage control.
Supervisory experience – proven experience in supervising teams.
