Job Summary
The Project Engineer is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing engineering and construction projects from initiation to completion.
The role ensures that projects are delivered safely on time, within budget, and in compliance with technical specifications, quality standards, and client requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Project Planning and Coordination
Assist in the preparation of project plans, schedules, and budgets.
Coordinate project engineering activities and ensure alignment with overall project objectives.
Prepare and update project progress reports, technical documentation, and status updates.
Design and Technical Support
Review and interpret design drawings, specifications, and technical documents.
Provide engineering input to ensure constructibility and compliance with project requirements.
Liaise with design teams, consultants, and contractors to resolve technical issues.
Site Supervision and Execution
Monitor daily site activities to ensure compliance with safety, quality, and schedule.
Verify material specifications and ensure materials meet required standards.
Supervise installation, testing, and commissioning activities.
Quality Assurance and Compliance
Ensure adherence to engineering codes, standards, and best practices.
Conduct inspections and audits to maintain quality control throughout the project.
Prepare and review quality documentation and reports.
Procurement and Material Management
Identify material and equipment requirements and coordinate procurement with the supply chain team.
Track deliveries and verify that materials meet project specifications.
Manage inventory and minimize waste on-site.
Cost and Progress Control
Support the monitoring of project costs, variations, and change orders.
Assist in preparing project valuations, progress claims, and cost reports.
Health, Safety & Environment (HSE)
Promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with HSE regulations.
Participate in risk assessments and toolbox meetings.
Stakeholder Communication
Maintain clear communication with project stakeholders, including clients, consultants, and contractors.
Support the preparation of technical presentations and project documentation.
Requirements
Qualifications And Experience
Bachelor’s Degree or Higher National Diploma in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, or related Engineering discipline.
3 – 7 years of relevant experience in engineering or construction project execution.
Professional certification (e.g., COREN, PMP, or equivalent) is an advantage.
Proficiency in project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Primavera) and engineering design software (e.g., AutoCAD).
