@Innocent, Pascal; that is not the case here. I think the scholarship to open to everyone 'who' is a graduate from a recognized university here in Nigeria of which you may be a product of. Simply put, that you only went to School to read to pass and not to study and do researches, for you to have the privilege to make a comment of such online, imply that you can as well apply for admission into any foreign university of your choice on your own by simply visiting their sites and follow the instructions. Hope you are cleared? Nigeria and the resources therein is for all her Citizens and Indigene.

@Innocent/Kingsley, what does being poor or rich have to do with getting admission abroad? all it takes it for u to log on to any university's website and apply for admission. If u meet all the requirements u can get the admission within 2-3 weeks. The NDDC scholarship is for graduates of 'Nigerian Universities' to gain better education abroad.

This is unfair! Is this the way to eradicate poverty in the land? I thought this was a scholarship meant for everyone despite your background? What happens to those who coudn't apply for schools abroad because the resources wasn't there? Does it mean they should start applying now when your closing date is january next year? You guys should stop decieving yourself. Just tell us the scholarship is meant for you theifs in Government bcause you all know this was coming up and have prepared your children for it. THEIFS!!!!

@Austin...How will you ever get the scholarship if you think like a poor man?...smh for Nigerian graduates. The same way you all believe that all job is by connection. better go and prepare for life if not you will remain poor forever.

how can the child of a poor man ever get references from a national assembly member, high court judge and even local govt council chairman under a year? From what i hear, it takes about 2-3 weeks for a local govt council chairman to see a federal lawmaker, not to talk of a mere nameless graduate. God dey

Its a big shame that corruption has simply refused to leave this country. Can you just imagine the kind of referees NDDC is asking for? Even the British Council that runs a more fair Scholarship process does not ask applicants to bring a recommendation letter from a judge; talk-less from a chairman of an LGA. This shows you that the process lacks transparency and credibility. If you want to share the slots to your political cronies; go ahead and tell us that's what you want to do instead of deceiving yourselves in the name of media propaganda. It is only God Almighty that will judge and punish you Politicians.

Gaining Admission isn't so difficult. All you need is internet and scanned copies of your document as well as your ability to write well because you may be requested to write an essay of some sort. Information is power. I got my first two admissions abroad in the year 2006 without paying anything, admission letters were scanned and sent to me. Just spend more time online and look for school that actually have what you want to study. It also helps to have an educational plan, in other words, know what you want to study by having a career goal and vision.

Please you guys should stop tongue lashing this NDDC scholarship. I am an example of someone who didnt have any contact in NDDC but simply applied for the scholarship with my admission letter, went for interview and was selected. i just completed my MSc and already got my PhD offer from another University of Leeds. All i did was to apply to the school, prepared my research proposal and had series of communication with my prospective supervisor. that's all. as a matter of fact, you have to compete with applicants from your state during the interview and your ability to show that you are better that your peers goes along way to making you successful. sure you cannot rule out, some sort of man-know-man but to the best of my knowledge, 90% of the scholars i met when we went for the induction, never knew anyone and we were almost strange to ourselves because we never meet during the selection process. Majority of the scholars can testify to this. All i tell anyone is to apply, attend the interview and pray and if it is your time, you will surely get it.

By the way is anyone poor. those who think they are dont know they have something the so-called rich do not have, so thinking you are rich bcos the people you called rich started the way you are sometimes ago. but bcos they refuse to give up they made rich now. i advised, pls every niger deltan both rich and poor should start looking for admission abroad now and pray to be granted one. also note it does not end by just having admission, To merit the scholarship is where the connection(man no man) comes in.if you are favoured by GOD, you are favoured by man. when GOD says yes, He will surely connect you to the man that will help you. so always put your trust in GOD. Think positive.

I would very much like to know if the scheme runs yearly, if it does what time of the year am i suppose to apply?
Secondly most of these schools need a proof that the sponsoring body will indeed cater for the student's finances. What do i do in this regard? Thanks

It appears this scheme is only meant for people who studied science oriented courses. If the programme is truly for every graduate i think it should cut across all the disciplines, or can we rightly conclude that the organizing members of this scheme were science oriented students during their university days. Thank you.

A welcome developement.Rather than see this offer as inaccesible, we should rather consider this offer as one that will enable us go abroad and tap into the new research areas that are still very new to us: talking about NANOTECHNOLGY. Lets join the rest of the world and tap into this technology.

Loreal, the bond of good conduct is just an attribute they require from you. Its something you have to personally prove that you possess. While the guarantor letter is actually a document from a prominent personnel attesting to your good conduct.
