Job Title: Land Surveyor

Job Summary
The Land Surveyor is responsible for conducting surveys to determine land boundaries, measurements, topography, and construction layouts.
The role provides precise data for design, planning, and execution of engineering and construction projects.
The Land Surveyor ensures accuracy, compliance with project specifications, and adherence to local regulations and standards.
Key Responsibilities
Site Surveying and Data Collection:
Conduct topographical, boundary, and as-built surveys using modern surveying equipment (e.g., Total Station, GPS, Level, and Theodolite).
Establish control points and benchmarks for construction works.
Carry out setting-out operations for structures, roads, utilities, and other site features.
Perform leveling and coordinate checks to ensure construction accuracy.
Data Analysis and Interpretation:
Process and analyse survey data using appropriate software (e.g., AutoCAD Civil 3D, GIS, Leica Geo Office, or similar).
Prepare detailed survey drawings, contour maps, and reports.
Verify data accuracy and resolve discrepancies between design and actual site conditions.
Coordination and Documentation:
Work closely with project engineers, architects, and contractors to provide accurate survey data for design and execution.
Maintain comprehensive survey records, field notes, and digital data archives.
Prepare and submit survey progress reports and documentation for project milestones.
Equipment Management:
Ensure all surveying instruments are properly calibrated and maintained.
Manage and safeguard surveying tools and ensure their readiness for daily operations.
Report equipment faults or malfunctions promptly for repair or replacement.
Compliance and Quality Assurance:
Ensure all surveying activities comply with statutory regulations, project specifications, and industry standards.
Adhere to quality assurance and health & safety protocols during all site operations.
Support verification of subcontractor survey work and ensure alignment with project control points.
Stakeholder Communication:
Liaise with consultants, local authorities, and other stakeholders for survey verification and approvals.
Provide technical support to the project team during design, layout, and construction stages.
Performance Indicators (KPIs)
Accuracy of survey data and layout works.
Timeliness in completing survey tasks and reports.
Proper maintenance and calibration of instruments.
Compliance with HSE and quality standards.
Effective coordination with project and site teams.
Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor’s Degree or Higher National Diploma (HND) in Surveying, Geomatics, or related field.
3 – 5 years of professional experience in land or construction surveying.
Membership or certification from a recognized professional body (e.g., NIS, SURCON, RICS, or equivalent) is an advantage.
Proficiency in surveying equipment (Total Station, GPS, Level) and relevant software (AutoCAD, Civil 3D, GIS tools).
Good understanding of civil and structural drawings.
