The Bauchi Field Office Education team is supporting the State Governments in the implementation of the education interventions and Climate Resilient Infrastructure for Basic Services (CRIBS) that aims to scale a model for assessin climate risks and vulnerabilities of primary schools and subsequently identifying and implementing interventions to make those schools more resilient.
The partnership with the government is to support Bauchi and Gombe States to increase access to learning opportunities, improve enrollment, and ensure active participation and completion of quality primary education by all children,particularly children with disabilities (CwDs), girls, and adolescents.
It aims to complement the efforts of the government and those of its development partners to address effectively and substantially reduce the number of OOSCs through improved access, quality learning, and system strengthening.
The education team in Bauchi FO comprises only two staff members. Given the demands and increased scope of work, the Education section is proposing to hire two State facilitators to support the monitoring and delivery of the programme.
The engagement of the State Facilitator will support and ensure effective coordination and monitoring of the implementation of all activities under the CRIBS and Education interventions.
The State Facilitator will be responsible for real-time monitoring, data collection, reporting, sharing feedback on program implementation, and ensuring resources are utilized judiciously for intended purposes.
He/She will consolidate the reports, track progress, provide technical guidance, deploy knowledge and experience to create momentum at the state, LGAs, communities, and school levels in quality and timelyimplementation, and ensure the sustainability of education programs.
Main Responsibilities & Tasks
Support the planning and implementation of the Climate Infrastructure for Basic Service (CRIBS) project in schools in collaboration with the State Universal Basic Education Boards (SUBEB), State Ministries of Education (SMoE), State Agency for Mass Education, and Local Education Authority.
Support planning and implementation of the Bauchi Field Office Education workplan, and other education activities at the State and LGA level in collaboration with the State Universal Basic Education Boards (SUBEB), State Ministries of Education (SMoE), State Agency for Mass Education, and Local Education Authority.
Support the States with the digital systems/platforms – EMIS- following up on data collection, reporting system glitches
Collaborate with state ministries, local governments, and implementing partners to ensure program alignment with national and state education priorities.
Monitor the School-Based Management Committee work in the targeted LGA in collaboration with SUBEB Support implementation and monitoring of Blended learning in formal and non-formal centers using the Nigeria Learning Passport
Conduct classroom observation of teachers’ application of teaching techniques/skills learned from training and maintain a database on key education targets using tools provided by the UNICEF Education section.
In collaboration with government partners and UNICEF, monitoring the implementation of the FLN across the intervention schools
Support learning assessment capacity building for State Officials
Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including state, local governments, communities, and civil society organizations (CSOs)
Regularly communicate with UNICEF Field Office education staff responsible for the activities and discuss issues of concern on the implementation of projects.
Provide monthly progress reports on the status of the project activities and support the documentation of best practices and lessons learned from implementation.

Deliverables:
Monthly work plan detailing how key tasks will be conducted in monitoring the CRIPBS interventions
Monthly progress report detailing achievement, best practices, and lessons learnt from CRIBS and general education interventions
Timely submission of bi-weekly, monthly, and quarterly activity progress reports and emerging reports on specific interventions
Daily update on the progress within the assigned state with respect to the CRIBS and Education investment
The facilitator is to spend 60% on the field for monitoring and supportive supervision

Requirements
Education:
A first Degree in education, social sciences, economics, or related fields
Computer Literate
Language:
Fluency in the English language and good English writing skills. Fluency in
written and spoken Hausa, the language of the immediate environment
where the Facilitator is deployed.
Work Experience:
At least 5 years of experience and demonstrated ability in supporting
capacity development work in education.
Experience working on gender issues and extensive knowledge and skills in
education and social sectors in Nigeria preferably in northern Nigeria.
Experience working in a humanitarian and development context is an asset.
Skills in the use of Microsoft Office suites are a must.
Experience working with UN or NGO programs/projects is an asset
