We also offer businesses an API-based infrastructure for secure and low-cost cross-border payments to many African countries.

About The Role

• We are seeking a seasoned Principal Engineer to lead our dynamic engineering team, which includes frontend, backend, and blockchain engineers.
• In this role, you will oversee the design and development of complex decentralized applications, create a scalable API infrastructure, and architect secure blockchain solutions to streamline cross-border transactions.
• This Principal Engineer will work closely with our Head of Engineering and the Kredete Leadership to shape and document product strategies, development processes, and technical roadmaps. As a key technical leader, you’ll drive high and low-level architecture, set the bar for quality and security, and lead by example in developing backend APIs and Stablecoin rails to support our products.

What You Will Do

• Review backend code logic, provide constructive feedback, and set best practices for backend engineers working with Node.js, TypeScript, Web3.js, PostgreSQL, and AWS (EC2, RDS, S3, CloudFormation).
• Actively participate in hands-on coding when needed, setting a high bar for code quality and exemplifying engineering best practices.
• Design, build, and maintain Stablecoin payment rails to enable cross-border transactions, converting USD to local African fiat currencies with a focus on compliance and security.
• Collaborate directly with the leadership team to define product requirements, translating them into actionable engineering tasks that align with business objectives.
• Architect high- and low-level system designs for secure and scalable blockchain applications to support complex decentralized financial products.
• Ensure continuous integration and deployment processes with rigorous testing protocols, automated testing, and thorough code reviews for all projects.
• Establish and enforce development best practices, ensuring consistency in documentation, code quality, and design principles across frontend, backend, and mobile engineering teams.
• Identify and implement new tools, frameworks, and methodologies to streamline engineering workflows, optimize development efficiency, and enhance collaboration.
• Monitor and maintain API performance, proactively identifying bottlenecks or vulnerabilities, and drive improvements to enhance speed, reliability, and security.
• Conduct regular performance evaluations, provide constructive feedback, and create personalized development plans for each team member to support career growth.
• Collaborate with DevOps to manage AWS cloud infrastructure, implement robust security protocols, and ensure scalability to meet growing product demands.
• Research emerging technologies in blockchain, mobile, and fintech, assessing their potential for integration into Kredete’s architecture to enhance product capabilities.
• Ensure compliance with financial regulations and data security standards across all systems, particularly for cross-border payment operations.

What We’re Looking For
Technical Skills:

• 7+ years in software engineering, with experience in backend development, payment systems, and blockchain.
• Strong knowledge of Node.js, TypeScript, Web3.js, PostgreSQL, and AWS for backend development.
• Skilled in frontend technologies like Angular for web and Flutter/Dart for mobile development.
• Experience creating decentralized applications and Stablecoin systems for cross-border payments.
• %+ years leading engineering teams in fast-paced environments, ideally in fintech, payments, or API-based services in the Nigerian Market
• Ability to set high standards, lead by example, and get involved hands-on when needed.
• Skilled in building secure, scalable API solutions from scratch.
• Problem solver with a proactive, can-do attitude and interest in blockchain and fintech.
• Comfortable in fast-paced settings, with a focus on high-quality, secure infrastructure.
• Driven to build financial tools that empower people globally.
