The Logistics Manager will be the strategic leader responsible for planning, implementing, and overseeing the end-to-end logistics network for our company.
This includes the inbound logistics of new solar components and the complex reverse logistics for collecting scrap batteries.
This role demands a strategic thinker with deep expertise in international and domestic freight, warehouse management, and compliance, particularly for hazardous materials.
Develop and execute a comprehensive logistics strategy for the timely and cost-effective movement of goods, including solar panels, inverters, and new batteries from global suppliers to our warehouses.
Design, manage, and optimize the reverse logistics network for the collection, transportation, and storage of scrap and end-of-life batteries from various sources.
Manage relationships with freight forwarders, customs brokers, carriers (air, sea, land), and warehousing partners.
Transportation & Freight Management:
Negotiate and manage freight contracts and rates for both incoming finished goods and outgoing recycled materials.
Oversee all shipping documentation, ensuring accuracy for international customs clearance (commercial invoices, packing lists, certificates of origin).
Track shipments in real-time and proactively manage any delays or disruptions.
Specialize in the transportation of hazardous materials, ensuring full compliance with DOT, IATA, and ADR regulations for battery shipments.
Warehouse & Inventory Optimization:
Oversee warehouse operations, ensuring efficient receipt, storage, and dispatch of goods.
Implement and manage robust inventory control systems for both new components and scrap battery inventory.
Ensure safe and compliant storage practices, with a specific focus on the segregation and handling of scrap batteries.
Drive continuous improvement in warehouse layout and processes to maximize efficiency and safety.
Compliance, Safety & Sustainability:
Serve as the company expert on logistics-related compliance, including hazardous material handling, battery transportation regulations, and environmental standards.
Ensure all logistics activities adhere and other relevant health and safety regulations.
Champion sustainability within the logistics function, seeking opportunities to reduce carbon footprint and improve circular economy practices.
Team Leadership & Data Analytics:
Lead, mentor, and develop a team of logistics coordinators and specialists.
Utilize logistics data and KPIs (On-Time Delivery, Freight Cost to analyze performance and identify cost-saving or efficiency opportunities.
Manage the logistics budget, providing regular reports and forecasts to senior management.
Qualifications & Experience
Essential:
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field.
5+ years of progressive experience in logistics or supply chain management, with at least 2 years in a managerial capacity.
Proven experience managing international freight (ocean and air) and domestic distribution.
Direct, hands-on experience with hazardous materials logistics, preferably with battery transportation (e.g., Lithium-Ion, Lead-Acid).
Strong knowledge of import/export procedures and customs documentation.
Demonstrated experience in negotiating with carriers and third-party logistics (3PL) providers.
Proficiency with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), Transportation Management Systems (TMS), and ERP software.
Highly Desirable:
Experience in the renewable energy, electronics, or recycling industries.
Formal certification in hazardous materials transportation
Certification in logistics or supply chain).
Ethnical understanding of solar energy components (panels, inverters, batteries).
Strong financial acumen with experience in budgeting and cost-to-serve analysis.
