Job Summary
We are seeking a hands-on, entrepreneurial Technical Lead with proven experience in building automation, control systems, or energy infrastructure.
The ideal candidate will oversee the design, implementation, and deployment of Building and Energy Management Systems (BEMS) and renewable energy solutions across pilot and client sites.
The Technical Lead will define and drive the company’s technical strategy, coordinate multidisciplinary project teams, and ensure delivery excellence in compliance with industry standards and regulations.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
Lead the design, engineering, and implementation of solar PV, battery storage, and hybrid power systems (solar/diesel/grid).
Develop comprehensive system designs and drawings, including layouts, single-line diagrams (SLDs), and civil/structural details for energy infrastructure projects.
Prepare and review Bills of Engineering Measurement and Evaluation (BEME), Operations & Maintenance (O&M) plans, and project cost estimates.
Oversee project delivery schedules, resource planning, and execution for both pilot and client projects.
Design and deploy BEMS architectures, integrating energy metering, HVAC controls, and lighting automation systems.
Ensure compliance with HSE regulations and quality assurance standards across all technical operations.
Coordinate with software developers, field technicians, and third-party vendors to ensure seamless integration of hardware and software solutions.
Support client-facing activities, including technical presentations, documentation, and training sessions.
Stay abreast of industry certifications, regulations, and emerging technologies in renewable and smart energy systems.
Evaluate system performance, reliability, and ROI, recommending optimisations through data analytics and field insights.
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Mechatronics Engineering (or equivalent technical background).
5–7 years of progressive experience in renewable energy, controls, or power infrastructure projects.
Proven record of leading design or installation of solar/diesel/grid hybrid systems.
Relevant professional certifications (e.g., COREN, NSE, PMP, or Renewable Energy certifications) are desirable.
Required Skills & Competencies:
Strong technical expertise in solar PV systems, battery storage, microgrids, and building and energy management systems (BEMS).
Proficiency in AutoCAD, PVsyst, or equivalent design and simulation tools.
Excellent understanding of electrical systems design, control, and protection schemes.
Working knowledge of SCADA systems, IoT sensors, and smart inverter technologies.
Proven ability to manage end-to-end project lifecycles, from concept to commissioning.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
Demonstrated leadership and communication abilities to guide teams and present technical concepts to non-engineers.
Experience in African power infrastructure or smart energy projects is highly desirable.
Familiarity with oil and gas electrical or hybrid energy systems is an added advantage.
