Bincike International is a Nigerian NGO uniquely structured as both a Humanitarian Organization and a social enterprise. As a Humanitarian entity, they provide essential aid and resilience programs to vulnerable populations, especially those affected by conflict and climate change. Simultaneously, as a social enterprise, they empower communities through sustainable micro-enterprise development, equipping individuals with the skills and resources to build small businesses. This dual model allows them to combine grant-funded interventions with market-driven solutions for lasting community empowerment.

Title: Consultant: Economic Opportunity Training Manual Design for Conflict Affected Women and Girls
Bincike International, as an implementing partner in the FCDO-funded Strengthening Peace and Resilience in Nigeria (SPRiNG) Programme led by Tetra Tech International Development, has launched the EMPOWER project.
This project aims to enhance the economic resilience, peace, and empowerment of conflict-affected communities, with a specific focus on vulnerable women and adolescent girls in select Local Government Areas (LGAs) of Kaduna and Katsina States (including Zaria, Kaura, Katsina, and Daura).
Consultancy Objectives
The primary objective of the consultant is to design a comprehensive, context-specific training manual focused on economic opportunity and resilience for conflict-affected women and adolescent girls.
The manual must be tailored to the low literacy levels prevalent among participants, making it highly accessible and actionable.
Scope of Work
The consultant will be responsible for the following key tasks:
Desk Review & Contextualization: Review existing EMPOWER project documents, local economic profiles, and relevant peace/resilience curricula to ensure the manual is aligned with project goals and local market realities.
Curriculum Design: Design a modular curriculum covering essential topics for economic empowerment and resilience, including:
Income-generating activities (IGAs) suitable for the local context and climate.
Entrepreneurship skills (market analysis, value addition, and risk management).
Economic shock mitigation and resilience planning.
Manual Development (Low-Literacy Format):
Develop training content using infographics, sequential diagrams, and visual aids as the primary mode of instruction.
Integrate scenario-based learning relevant to the security and economic context of Kaduna/Katsina (e.g., managing funds after displacement, dealing with market disruptions).
Ensure the language used is simple, clear, and easily translatable into local dialects used by the LGA Community Mobilizers.
Field Validation: Conduct a brief field pre-test or Focus Group Discussion (FGD) in one of the target LGAs to validate the manual's effectiveness, comprehension, and cultural appropriateness with a small group of potential participants.
Final Submission: Deliver the final, approved manual in a print-ready digital format.
Required Expertise and Qualifications
Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in developing training materials, curricula, or toolkits for development projects, preferably those focused on livelihoods, financial inclusion, or women's economic empowerment.
Sector Knowledge: Proven understanding of the socioeconomic and security context of Northwest Nigeria, particularly the challenges faced by conflict-affected women and adolescent girls.
Design Skills: Demonstrated ability to translate complex concepts into visually driven, low-literacy materials (infographics, charts, simple step-by-step guides).
Communication:
Excellent English writing and communication skills; fluency in relevant local languages (Hausa) is a significant advantage.
