Job Title: Career Development Specialist
Location: Ikeja, Lagos

Role Purpose
The Career Development Specialist supports the design and execution of career growth initiatives and “Critical Learning Experiences” that foster employee development and internal mobility at Ikeja Electric.
Reporting to the Career Development Manager as Product leader and reports functionally to the HRBP in the field, this role is responsible for facilitating career planning resources, assisting with succession planning, and promoting development opportunities across the organization.
By supporting employees in their growth journeys, the Career Development Specialist contributes to Ikeja Electric’s HR transformation goals of enhancing workforce capability, promoting a culture of learning, and driving employee satisfaction through meaningful career advancement.
Role Accountabilities
Career Pathway and Development Program Support:
Assist in implementing career pathways and development frameworks that enable employees to understand their growth potential and advancement opportunities.
Support the Career Development Manager in promoting resources, tools, and programs that align with employee career goals.
Provide employees with guidance on development options, including skill-building opportunities, workshops, and training programs.
Facilitation of Critical Learning Experiences:
Collaborate with the Career Development Manager to identify and support the execution of “Critical Learning Experiences” for employees in key roles.
Coordinate with relevant departments to facilitate developmental assignments, cross-functional projects, and other growth opportunities.
Track and document the progress and outcomes of Critical Learning Experiences, ensuring alignment with career development goals.
Succession Planning and Internal Mobility Support:
Work with the HRBP and Talent Management unit to execute people development forum (PDF) discussions, talent reviews and succession planning activities aimed at identifying employees with potential for advancement into critical roles.
Support internal job posting processes, ensuring that employees are aware of available growth opportunities within Ikeja Electric.
Promote and encourage internal mobility as a pathway for career advancement, assisting employees in understanding and accessing new roles.
Career Coaching and Employee Guidance:
Provide one-on-one career coaching sessions to help employees identify and pursue their career objectives.
Offer support to Undertaking managers and other team leads in the field in recognizing and developing employee potential, ensuring alignment with Ikeja Electric’s talent strategy.
Act as a point of contact for field / function employees seeking information on career progression, learning opportunities, and skills development.
Minimum Requirement
Minimum of 3 years’ experience in Human Resources, Career Counselling, or Talent Management.
Demonstrated experience in career coaching, succession planning, or implementing employee development programs.
Prior exposure to HR analytics, workforce planning, or employee engagement initiatives is an added advantage.
Professional in Human Resources (CIPM, PHR or HRCI) is an Advantage
