Job Description

• We are looking for a passionate and creative Science Tutor / Lesson Designer to join our innovative team at Slate.ng, a fast-growing edtech startup.
• This role is ideal for someone who loves teaching science, enjoys designing engaging lessons, and is committed to making learning accessible and exciting for KS-12 learners.
• You will be responsible for creating and delivering high-quality science lessons aligned with the American, British, and Nigerian curricula while leveraging technology to enhance learning outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
Lesson Design and Content Creation:

• Develop interactive, engaging, and curriculum-aligned science lessons for KS-12 learners.
• Create diverse teaching materials, including lesson plans, worksheets, assessments, presentations, and multimedia resources.
• Adapt lessons to suit different curricula (American, British, Nigerian) while ensuring cultural relevance and accuracy.
• Design project-based and inquiry-driven learning activities to foster critical thinking and problem-solving.

Tutoring and Instruction:

• Provide live or recorded science tutoring sessions tailored to learners’ needs.
• Break down complex scientific concepts into simple, relatable explanations.
• Offer personalised learning support to help students achieve academic goals.
• Track student progress and provide constructive feedback to learners and parents.

Digital Content and LMS Integration:

• Upload and manage lesson materials on the Learning Management System (LMS).
• Collaborate with the content team to integrate interactive tools, simulations, and videos into lessons.
• Ensure digital resources are up-to-date, accurate, and easy to navigate.

Collaboration and Innovation:

• Work closely with instructional designers, content analysts, and educators to refine lessons.
• Incorporate feedback from students, parents, and peers to improve lesson delivery.
• Stay updated with trends in STEM education and edtech to bring innovation into teaching.

Qualifications
Educational Background:

• A Bachelor’s degree in Science Education, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, or a related field.
• Teaching certification and/or proven tutoring experience is highly desirable.

Skills and Competencies:

• Strong knowledge of KS-12 science across American, British, and Nigerian curricula.
• Ability to design engaging, age-appropriate lessons and activities.
• Excellent teaching, communication, and presentation skills.
• Creativity in lesson design, with experience using edtech tools (e.g., PhET simulations, Google Classroom, Kahoot).
• Familiarity with LMS platforms and digital content creation.
• Passion for inspiring curiosity and a love for science in young learners.
