Job Title: Visual Illustrator / Graphics Designer

Location: Abuja (FCT)

Role Overview

• We’re seeking a Visual Illustrator / Graphics Designer with a strong eye for storytelling and educational design.
• In this role, you’ll be responsible for transforming lesson scripts, teacher guides, and educational content into compelling visual presentations and PowerPoint slides that enhance classroom engagement and simplify learning.
• You’ll work closely with curriculum developers, content writers, and subject matter experts to ensure that every slide and visual not only looks great but also communicates clearly, supports comprehension, and aligns with learning objectives.

Key Responsibilities
Lesson Visualisation & Slide Design:

• Convert written lesson scripts and teacher notes into engaging PowerPoint presentations for classroom use.
• Design clear, interactive, and visually appealing slides that simplify complex topics for learners of varying ages.
• Create illustrations, infographics, and visual elements that reinforce key learning points.
• Maintain consistency in slide structure, colour schemes, and visual hierarchy across subjects and grade levels.

Collaboration & Content Development:

• Work closely with subject matter experts, content writers, and educators to understand lesson objectives before visualising them.
• Interpret abstract or technical information into visuals that aid teaching and retention.
• Incorporate feedback from teachers and content teams to continuously improve slide designs.

Brand & Design Consistency:

• Uphold Slate.ng’s visual identity and tone in all educational materials.
• Develop templates, icons, and design systems that can be reused across multiple subjects and lessons.

Creative Innovation:

• Explore innovative ways to visualise learning content — using storytelling, animation, or illustrative metaphors.
• Stay updated on trends in educational media, visual learning, and digital presentation design.

Requirements
Education & Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts, Visual Communication, Graphic Design, Educational Media, or related field is preferred but not mandatory. We prioritise skills over academic qualification.
• 2–5years of experience designing visuals, educational content, or presentations (experience in EdTech or education is an advantage).

Technical Skills:

• Proficiency in PowerPoint (or Google Slides) and Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop).
• Ability to create custom illustrations, icons, and infographics.
• Familiarity with presentation flow, typography, and colour psychology for educational materials.
• Knowledge of instructional design principles or experience working with educators is an advantage.

Soft Skills:

• Strong attention to detail and visual coherence.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
• Passion for education and using design to improve learning outcomes.
