Nigeria Campaign Director at Secure Energy Project

Posted on Wed 15th Oct, 2025 - hotnigerianjobs.com --- (0 comments)

The Secure Energy Project identifies obstacles to the renewable energy transition and solves for them. We are activating new communities, building new voices and gaining policy wins.
By changing the story of renewables, we will shift power and thus political will to drive the renewable energy transition. Our mission is to accelerate the energy transition in a way that benefits all of us, without sacrificing the speed required to get there.

The Secure Energy Project is committed to providing communication and campaign support to anyone with a commitment to increasing renewable energy capacity. We have a bias toward the global south where energy investment remains far too low. Our goal is to help organizations remove the obstacles that can slow the transition to a secure energy future. We believe that everyone should have access to clean, affordable, and reliable energy sources. We work with businesses, governments, and communities to ensure the shift to renewables is fast and fair so that we can create a brighter future for all.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Nigeria Campaign Director

Location: Abuja (FCT)
Employment type: Contract
Duration: One year

About the Secret Energy Project

  • The Secure Energy Project (SEP) aims to fast-track and secure the transition to clean energy. We identify key obstacles and develop innovative, collaborative campaigns to address them.
  • We bring together a wide range of allies, from grassroots organisations to international levels, to influence the narrative and politics surrounding energy.
  • The energy transition presents an opportunity to improve everything. It provides cheaper electricity, generates new jobs, cuts pollution, and connects communities that have long been overlooked. Yet, despite its many advantages, the shift away from fossil fuels remains slow and susceptible to misinformation and setbacks.
  • Now entering our third year, SEP is leading global communications efforts, coordinating campaign coalitions, and launching audience-led interventions in key countries. We're helping the climate movement fight smarter, faster, and together.

About the Role

  • The Campaign Director will be based in Abuja and will oversee the coordination and implementation of SEP's communications campaign and partnerships collaboration in Nigeria.
  • The role demands strong networking and liaison skills to engage with a diverse range of stakeholders, including civil society organisations, community groups, policymakers, media, and international partners.
  • This position focuses on making collaboration work by ensuring diverse actors can come together around shared goals, timelines, and deliverables to create real-world impact.
  • The Director will also assist with monitoring and evaluation (M&E) of campaign activities, compile reports, and represent SEP in external engagements.

Key Responsibilities
Coalition Campaign Management:

  • Drive the planning and delivery of campaign collaboration projects across SEP's Nigeria and global communications network.
  • Liaise with local media and draft communication products, such as press releases and media statements, in collaboration with the SEP Communications Director.
  • Manage timelines, milestones, and responsibilities for campaign pilots and initiatives.
  • Coordinate the SEP and partners' core group of organisations, as well as the secondary layer of partners in the campaign.Coordinate across multiple partners, ensuring clarity on roles, expectations, and shared deliverables.

Stakeholder Liaison and Network Building:

  • Build and sustain strong relationships with Nigerian civil society groups, younger people, policymakers, journalists, and other partners.
  • Act as a key liaison between SEP and stakeholders, ensuring effective two-way communication and collaboration.
  • Represent SEP at meetings, forums, and community engagements, occasionally serving as a public spokesperson.

Strategic Communications:

  • Collaborate with the Senior Director of Communications to contribute to communications strategies that advance the renewable energy transition, such as the "Delay the Ban on Solar Imports" campaign and other initiatives in Nigeria.
  • Cultivate and manage relationships with journalists and media outlets to secure coverage, place Op-Eds, press releases and feature articles and support the campaign.
  • Develop and adapt campaign content for social media and digital platforms in English and other languages, to engage Nigerian audiences and amplify coalition messages.
  • Assist with developing messaging, story angles, and communications tactics that resonate with Nigerian audiences in English and local languages.
  • Monitor media and public discourse on energy issues, and share insights with SEP leadership and partners to inform narrative shifts and rapid response plans.
  • Speak at external events and opportunities to amplify SEP's campaigns.

Monitoring, Evaluation and Reporting:

  • Support the design and implementation of social media and communication narratives, monitoring and evaluation (M&E) tools for campaigns and coalition activities.
  • Track progress, monitor media coverage and reports, document key learnings, and prepare comprehensive reports for both internal and external audiences.
  • Provide timely project updates and partner feedback loops to SEP leadership.

Campaign Delivery Support:

  • Support the production of campaign materials, media interventions, and communications assets in collaboration with vendors and partner teams.
  • Ensure campaign components (e.g. messaging, media outreach, content calendars) are aligned and integrated across coalition efforts.

Requirements
