Job Title: Asset Planning, Economics, & Performance Analysis Lead
Location: Port Harcourt, Rivers

Mission / Purpose of the Job
This role will be responsible for leading the development of asset plans, economic evaluations, and performance analysis to optimize the company’s oilfield assets.
This includes analyzing production data, forecasting future performance, and identifying opportunities for improvement.
The individual will provide strategic insights to inform business decisions and drive asset performance.
Job Responsibilites
Asset Planning & Development Forecasting:
Develop comprehensive short, mid, and long-term asset plans aligned with the company’s operational and financial goals.
Create production forecasts based on technical and economic data, ensuring accuracy and feasibility.
Plan and manage resource allocation to optimize asset performance and operational efficiency.
Integrate inputs from engineering, operations, and finance teams to ensure cohesive asset development strategies.
Update asset plans regularly to reflect changing field conditions, project statuses, and business priorities.
Economic Evaluation & Financial Modelling:
Conduct detailed economic evaluations of field development projects using metrics such as NPV, IRR, and payback period.
Build and maintain financial models that assess the viability of new and existing assets.
Perform scenario and sensitivity analyses to evaluate risk and optimize investment decisions.
Lead the assessment of new project economics including drilling programs, facility upgrades, and cost optimization opportunities. Provide economic input to support capital budgeting and portfolio planning processes.
Performance Monitoring & Operational Analysis
Monitor asset performance using key indicators such as production efficiency, operating costs, and recovery factors.
Analyze variances between forecasted and actual performance and recommend corrective measures.
Identify underperforming assets and develop actionable strategies for improvement.
Lead performance review meetings and provide clear, data-backed insights to management.
Ensure alignment between performance targets, resource utilization, and profitability.
Strategic Collaboration & Investment Support:
Work with the reservoir engineering team to assess and report reserves in compliance with industry and regulatory standards.
Support investment decision-making related to acquisitions, divestments, and joint ventures through economic and strategic analysis.
Collaborate with finance, engineering, production, and planning teams to ensure unified decision-making across the asset lifecycle.
Participate in multidisciplinary project reviews and contribute insights from a planning and economics perspective.
Represent the economics and planning function in internal and external stakeholder meetings.
Compliance, Reporting & Scenario Planning:
Support internal and external audits by providing relevant planning and economics documentation.
Ensure all planning and economic activities adhere to corporate policies, local regulations, and industry standards.
Prepare regular and ad-hoc reports detailing asset performance, economic valuations, and business recommendations.
Develop and evaluate different asset development and operational scenarios based on market conditions and technical inputs.
Maintain documentation of methodologies, assumptions, and evaluations for audit and transparency purposes.
Bachelor’s Degree in Petroleum Engineering, Economics, Finance, or a related field.
A Master’s degree or professional certification (e.g., SPE, PMP, CFA) is an added advantage.
Work Experience:
Minimum of 10 years of quality experience in asset management, economic analysis, or performance evaluation within the upstream oil and gas sector.
Proven ability to lead asset planning, build economic models, and contribute to strategic investment decisions.
Competencies, Skills & Attributes:
Strong knowledge of economic modelling, financial analysis, and investment appraisal techniques specific to the oil and gas sector.
Deep understanding of capital budgeting, cost analysis, and risk adjusted return metrics for upstream operations.
Familiarity with production forecasting, reserves evaluation, and reservoir engineering principles.
Understanding of scenario planning, decision tree analysis, and operational risk management.
Skills:
Proven experience in creating long-term asset development plans that align with corporate and regulatory requirements.
Sound understanding of compliance frameworks, reserves reporting standards, and industry benchmarks.
