Center for Community Development and Research Network (CCDRN) is a local Non-governmental organization (NGO) in Nigeria with its head office in Kaduna. CCDRN partners with communities, philanthropists, government, and donors to provide sustainable community development services in the areas of conflict resolution, peace building, economic empowerment, agriculture, health, education, and governance. With funding from humanitarian donors, programs are implemented to engage in several interventions, including but not limited to food assistance, livelihoods, cash transfers, and capacity building of humanitarian response actors.
We are recruiting to fill the position below:
Job Title: Account Officer (AO)
Locations: Kaduna North, Kaduna and Yobe
Employment Type: Full-time
Position Overview
The Account Officer will be responsible for supporting day-to-day financial operations in CCDRN’s Kaduna office, ensuring accurate record-keeping, timely transaction processing, and compliance with organizational policies and donor requirements.
Reporting to the Finance Manager, the Account Officer will reconcile accounts, maintain financial documentation, and provide support in budget monitoring, reporting, and audits.
Verify and process payment requests, staff expense claims, and vendor invoices.
Record financial transactions (cash and bank) in the accounting system.
Ensure proper documentation, including vouchers, receipts, and supporting documents.
Maintain updated physical and electronic filing systems for all financial records.
Cash & Bank Management:
Monitor petty cash and reconcile balances on a regular basis.
Prepare bank reconciliations and verify the accuracy of bank statements.
Support timely deposits, withdrawals, and fund transfers.
Track daily cash flows and escalate unusual transactions or errors.
Budget Implementation & Monitoring:
Assist the Finance Manager in maintaining and updating project budgets.
Track expenditures against budget lines; flag variances or potential cost overruns.
Provide monthly financial reports on utilization rates, highlighting areas of concern.
Compliance & Controls:
Ensure adherence to accounting guidelines, donor regulations, and Nigerian financial/tax statutes.
Participate in internal control reviews to minimize fraud risks.
Support external and internal audits; gather documents and respond to audit queries.
Stay updated on relevant financial regulations and communicate key changes to team members.
Reporting & Analysis:
Prepare periodic financial summaries for the Finance Manager.
Contribute accurate data for monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
Assist in generating variance analysis reports and cost-benefit assessments.
Support the preparation of documentation for donor financial reports.
Team Coordination & Capacity Building:
Collaborate with project teams to ensure the timely submission of expense claims and supporting documents.
Provide new staff with basic orientation on financial procedures and compliance requirements.
Identify areas for process improvement and recommend solutions to enhance efficiency.
Key Deliverables:
Timely processing of payment requests and invoices.
Accurate and complete daily transaction entries in the accounting system.
Monthly bank reconciliations and petty cash reports.
Updated budget tracking sheets and variance reports.
Organized physical and digital financial records.
Timely support towards internal and external audits.
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
At least 3 years of progressive work experience in accounting or finance roles.
Solid understanding of accounting principles, financial forecasting, and Nigerian tax regulations.
Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, or ERP systems).
Prior experience in the humanitarian/development sector or donor-funded projects is an advantage.

Working Conditions:
Office-based in Kaduna with occasional visits to field locations.
Standard office hours, with flexibility depending on reporting deadlines.
Participation in periodic coordination meetings with finance and program teams.
Adherence to CCDRN policies, financial regulations, and security protocols.
