The Industrial Learning & Development Manager is responsible for implementing Lafarge Africa’s industrial learning strategy across plants and training centres.
The role focuses on delivering high-quality technical and operational training, ensuring alignment with business priorities, and supporting workforce capability development through effective learning programs and initiatives.
This position plays a key role in sustaining critical technical skills, managing training operations, and fostering a culture of continuous learning and performance improvement within the industrial team
What You'll Be Doing
Learning Implementation & Coordination:
Execute the country’s industrial training strategy in collaboration with HR, Plant Management, and Industrial Leadership
Coordinate and oversee the delivery of training programs across all Lafarge Africa Training Centres (LATCs) to ensure consistent standards and impact.
Support the development and implementation of technical training frameworks and processes that enhance plant performance and operational excellence.
Manage the planning, delivery, and evaluation of apprenticeship and vocational programs in compliance with Lafarge Africa standards and national regulatory requirements.
Operational Oversight:
Supervise LATC operations, including training schedules, facilitator performance, and infrastructure readiness.
Ensure quality and compliance across all training activities, adhering to safety, regulatory, and internal standards.
Monitor and report on training outcomes, effectiveness, and participation metrics to support continuous improvement.
Team Leadership & Capability Development:
Lead and coach a team of Centre Coordinators, Facilitators, and Administrative staff to deliver consistent, high-impact learning experiences.
Promote on-the-job learning through coaching, mentoring, and knowledge-sharing practices.
Support trainer onboarding, capability building, and knowledge transfer processes to sustain institutional expertise.
Stakeholder Engagement:
Serve as the primary liaison between LATCs and internal stakeholders, including Plant Managers, HR Business Partners, and Safety Teams.
Partner with regional and global L&D teams to align local learning content, systems, and standards.
Engage with regulatory and funding bodies (e.g., ITF/NECA) to ensure compliance and optimize training-related opportunities.
Budget & Reporting:
Manage operational budgets for LATCs, ensuring efficient use of resources and cost-effectiveness.
Track and report key performance indicators (KPIs) on training delivery, budget utilization, and learning outcomes

Requirements
What we are looking for:
Minimum of 15 years’ experience in a Cement Plant
Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a training coordinator/facilitator
Must have good knowledge of Lafarge Safety Standards, Advisories & Procedures
Good knowledge of Lafarge Business Processes.
Expert Coaching and facilitation skills
Good knowledge of safety laws and regulations.
Good written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to build learning roadmaps that address current and future skill gaps (e.g., upskilling, reskilling, cross-skilling).
Ability to navigate complex matrix environments and influence line managers, plant directors, and senior executives
Working knowledge of the cement manufacturing process.
Working knowledge of equipment operation procedure.
Able to take initiative based on sound problem-solving skills.
