Job Title: MEAL Coordinator
Location: GSF HQ, Oversee field offices in the Borno State
Reporting: MEAL Manager
Purpose
The MEAL Coordinator plays a pivotal role in ensuring systematic monitoring, evaluation, accountability, and learning throughout the project lifecycle. This role is essential in driving project success, improving impact, and informing decision-making.
Job Responsibilities
MEAL Framework Development: Develop comprehensive MEAL frameworks, tools, and data collection systems to track project progress and impact. This involves working closely with project staff and stakeholders to design and implement effective MEAL systems.
Capacity Building: Train project staff on data quality and results-based management to enhance their skills and knowledge. This includes providing ongoing support and coaching to ensure that staff are equipped to collect, analyze, and use data effectively.
Assessment and Evaluation: Oversee baseline, midline, and endline assessments to measure project progress and impact. This involves working with external evaluators and data analysts to design and implement evaluation methodologies.
Data Quality Assurance: Conduct Data Quality Assessments (DQAs) and field monitoring visits to ensure data accuracy and quality. This involves identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions to ensure data quality.
Learning and Adaptation: Lead accountability and learning review sessions to identify areas for improvement and inform project adaptation. This involves facilitating discussions and workshops with project staff and stakeholders to identify lessons learned and areas for improvement.
Evidence-Based Decision-Making: Support evidence-based decision-making and program adaptation by providing timely and relevant data insights. This involves analyzing data and presenting findings in a clear and concise manner to inform project decisions.
Data Confidentiality and Ethics: Ensure data confidentiality and ethical information handling to protect sensitive project data. This involves adhering to data protection protocols and ensuring that all data collection and analysis activities are conducted in an ethical and transparent manner.
Essential Skills and Qualifications
Education: A Bachelor’s Degree in Statistics, Economics, or a related discipline (Master’s degree preferred). A strong academic background in a relevant field is essential for this role.
Experience: Minimum of 4 years’ experience in MEAL, preferably in education or protection projects. Proven experience in designing and implementing MEAL systems is critical for success in this role.
Data Analysis Skills: Advanced Excel and data analysis skills, with proficiency in tools such as Kobo, Power BI, and SPSS. The ability to analyze and interpret complex data sets is essential for this role.
Report Writing and Training Skills: Strong report writing and training skills, with the ability to communicate complex data insights effectively. The ability to write clear and concise reports and deliver effective training sessions is critical for success in this role.
