Develop and implement the company’s operational strategy, policies, and procedures to support business goals in trade finance and capital advisory.
Provide direction and oversight for transaction processing, settlement operations, documentation control, and administrative efficiency.
Drive operational excellence by identifying and implementing process improvement initiatives and technology-driven efficiencies.
Collaborate with business heads to ensure seamless coordination between Operations, Finance, Risk, Compliance, and Client Relations.
Trade Finance & Capital Advisory Operations:
Oversee the end-to-end execution of trade finance transactions — including issuance and management of Letters of Credit, Bank Guarantees, Bills for Collection, and Receivable Financing.
Ensure accurate and timely documentation, validation, and settlement of transactions.
Supervise capital advisory deal support, ensuring smooth flow of information and compliance with deal timelines.
Ensure adherence to ICC rules (UCP 600, URDG 758, ISP 98) and local regulatory frameworks.
Risk, Compliance & Control:
Implement and maintain robust operational controls to minimize errors, fraud, and operational risks.
Ensure compliance with company policies, audit recommendations, and applicable financial regulations.
Work closely with the Risk and Compliance Department to ensure all transactions meet required AML, KYC, and due diligence standards.
Oversee reconciliation of trade and financial operations, ensuring data integrity across systems.
Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and operational manuals for all key activities.
Review and approve operational reports, reconciliations, and transaction summaries before submission to management.
Ensure operational readiness and capacity for new product rollouts and market expansions.
People Management & Leadership:
Lead, mentor, and develop the operations team to ensure high performance, accountability, and professional growth.
Promote a culture of operational discipline, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
Coordinate cross-departmental communication to resolve bottlenecks and enhance efficiency.
Stakeholder & Relationship Management:
Maintain effective relationships with partner banks, financial institutions, service providers, and regulators.
Support internal and external audits and ensure timely resolution of audit findings.
Provide regular updates and reports to executive management on operational performance, risks, and process improvements.
Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field.
A Master’s degree (MBA or MSc) and/or professional qualification (ACIB, ICAN, ACCA, PMP, or CIBN) is an added advantage.
Minimum of 8 - 10 years experience in financial operations, with at least 4 years in a senior management role within trade finance, investment banking, or capital advisory.
Strong knowledge of trade finance operations, capital market instruments, and transaction management.
Demonstrated experience implementing operational processes and technology systems in financial services.
