Job Purpose
The Senior Technical Analyst – Marine Operations provides technical, analytical, and operational support to the Technical Superintendent in ensuring optimal performance, reliability, and regulatory compliance of Tamrose’s fleet of vessels.
The role involves monitoring vessel technical conditions, analyzing maintenance data, tracking performance metrics, managing class and statutory compliance, and supporting preventive maintenance planning and execution.
This position is key to sustaining Tamrose’s commitment to operational excellence, safety, and asset integrity across all marine operations.
Track and analyze vessel performance indicators (fuel consumption, engine hours, running efficiency, downtime, etc.) to identify performance trends and improvement opportunities.
Maintain comprehensive technical dashboards for all vessels, highlighting equipment status, maintenance schedules, and performance KPIs.
Support the Technical Superintendent in assessing and forecasting maintenance and repair requirements based on operational data.
Review and analyze daily vessel reports, defect logs, and technical deviations for prompt escalation and resolution.
Provide periodic analytical summaries to management on vessel performance, reliability, and cost trends.
Preventive & Corrective Maintenance Support:
Assist in the planning, coordination, and documentation of preventive maintenance (PMS) activities across the fleet.
Ensure vessel maintenance schedules align with manufacturer recommendations, class requirements, and operational realities.
Track open maintenance jobs, pending spares, and completed tasks to ensure adherence to PMS cycles.
Verify that maintenance and repair documentation (job reports, service records, etc.) are accurately completed and filed.
Support the Superintendent in reviewing defect reports and coordinating technical responses with onboard engineers.
Regulatory & Class Compliance:
Monitor validity and status of all technical-related vessel certificates (e.g., Safety Equipment, Load Line, ISM, ISPS, MLC, Oil Record Books, etc.).
Ensure technical documentation required for class surveys, flag inspections, and audits is up to date and readily accessible.
Liaise with classification societies, NIMASA, NIWA, and flag state representatives as needed for survey and inspection preparation.
Maintain and update vessel compliance calendars and assist in ensuring zero lapses in technical certification.
Support the Superintendent during external audits and inspections by preparing documentation, evidence, and responses.
Data Management & Reporting:
Establish and maintain a structured digital filing system for all technical records, including class certificates, survey reports, and repair histories.
Prepare monthly and quarterly technical reports, summarizing vessel performance, downtime, fuel efficiency, and maintenance activities.
Maintain accurate databases for machinery history, spare parts inventory, and dry-docking records.
Support data-driven decision-making by developing analytical models or dashboards (Excel/Power BI) for performance tracking and forecasting.
Ensure data accuracy, integrity, and security in all reporting and documentation processes.
Technical Procurement Support:
Collaborate with the procurement and logistics teams to ensure timely sourcing and delivery of spare parts and consumables.
Review technical requisitions for completeness, accuracy, and alignment with maintenance requirements.
Maintain cost logs for spares and repairs, contributing to technical budget planning and cost control initiatives.
Track supplier and contractor performance metrics (delivery time, quality, cost compliance).
Dry Docking & Repair Coordination:
Support the Technical Superintendent in preparing dry-docking work scopes, budgets, and documentation.
Assist in tracking dry-docking milestones, progress reports, and cost variations.
Analyze post-docking performance and cost-effectiveness to inform continuous improvement of maintenance practices.
Safety, Quality & Continuous Improvement:
Ensure technical operations and maintenance practices adhere to HSSE and ISM standards.
Support root cause analysis of technical incidents and recommend preventive measures.
Participate in vessel condition assessments, risk reviews, and improvement projects.
Contribute to the continuous enhancement of the company’s Technical Management System (TMS).
Qualifications, Experience & Skills
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Naval Architecture, or related field.
Experience: Minimum of 7–15 years’ experience in vessel technical operations, maintenance planning, or marine engineering analysis (preferably within offshore/marine logistics environment).
Certifications: STCW Certification (advantageous), familiarity with ISM, ISPS, and MLC requirements. Professional qualification in marine maintenance systems or class survey experience is a plus.
Technical Skills:
Strong analytical skills with proficiency in Excel, Power BI, or other data tools.
Working knowledge of Planned Maintenance Systems (e.g., AMOS, NS5, ShipNet).
Understanding of vessel machinery systems, propulsion, and auxiliary equipment.
Knowledge of class and flag state regulations.
