Lagos Preparatory & Secondary School (LPSS), an International School with high educational and learning standards children from 18months through to 16 years+. The school day begins at 8am with a short break around 10am and a longer lunch break just after 12pm. School closes at 2:40pm with the option of an after school club till 3:45pm. We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Laboratory Technician

Location: Ikoyi, Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time
Contract Type: Permanent.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare laboratory materials, equipment, and chemical solutions for lessons and demonstrations across all three sciences.
• Ensure that stock levels of chemicals, equipment, and other laboratory supplies are effectively managed, and this includes the ordering process.
• Ensure all laboratory equipment is clean, in good working order, and calibrated. Arrange for repairs and servicing as needed.
• Uphold the highest standards of health & safety in the school laboratory.
• Conduct regular risk assessments, ensure safe storage and COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health) of chemicals, and maintain Safety Data Sheets (SDS). Be a champion for COSHH and other relevant safety regulations.
• Provide technical assistance/support to teachers and students during practical lessons when required.
• Keep the labs organised, ensure inventory is stocked, and all equipment is in perfect working order before and after use.
• Work collaboratively with teachers to develop new, engaging practical lessons and support students during lab sessions.

Qualifications & Experience

• A Degree-level qualification in a scientific discpline (e.g)
• Not less than 2 years of proven experience in a laboratory environment (school setting is a strong advantage).
• An unwavering commitment to health and safety, with a solid understanding of COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health) regulations.
• Good Communication skills, both verbal and written
• Excellent organisational skills and the ability to prioritise a varied workload.
• A collaborative spirit and excellent communication skills.
• Experience in an international school environment.
• Familiarity with the British National Curriculum or IGCSE/A-Level.
• A proactive, can-do attitude and a genuine passion for education.
• A good knowledge of child protection and safeguarding.
