Growth Officer at Lafiya Nigeria - 2 Openings

Posted on Wed 22nd Oct, 2025 - hotnigerianjobs.com --- (0 comments)

At Lafiya, we're on a mission to make contraception accessible to anyone who needs it and wants it – no matter where they live. Through our network of dedicated female health professionals – our Lafiya Sisters – we provide information and deliver contraception directly to communities that need it most. Our approach is cost-effective, community-based, and deeply rooted in respect and agency. We operate in hard-to-reach communities that otherwise do not have access to contraceptive products and information. We currently run our core programme across four states in northern Nigeria, managing 280 Lafiya Sisters. In addition to our direct community work, we are building our own supply chain to address widespread supply challenges in Nigeria and are partnering with government stakeholders to realise sustainable financing models for the procurement of contraception. To date, we have supported more than 200,000 women through our innovative last-mile approach.

We're a fast-growing non-profit in the middle of a transition from start-up to scale-up. Our focus is on impact, cost-effectiveness, and ensuring our work enhances the dignity and agency of those we serve.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Growth Officer

Locations: Abuja (FCT) & Kabuga, Kano
Job type: Full-time, 12‑month renewable (subject to funding & performance)
Reports to: Director of Growth

Position Overview

  • We are looking for a motivated Growth Officer to help us fuel our expansion plans. In this role, you will craft persuasive proposals, write donor reports, and keep our fundraising systems organised and running smoothly.
  • You’ll help tell Lafiya’s story to the world, translating data, field experiences, and community voices into compelling narratives that inspire action.
  • You’ll thrive in this role if you have a knack for storytelling, are naturally curious, and enjoy finding creative ways to connect our impact with the right audience.

What You’ll Do Proposal development:

  • Craft and adapt concept notes and funding proposals tailored to donor interests and priorities.
  • Track proposal timelines and coordinate timely follow-up communications for pending or submitted applications.
  • Work closely with the Director of Growth to shape Lafiya’s fundraising story and core messaging across all materials.
  • Source key insights, photos, and stories from field teams to bring Lafiya’s impact to life.

Reporting:

  • Write high-quality donor reports, collaborating with different teams within Lafiya (e.g. Programmes, Operations, Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning) to collect accurate and compelling data.
  • Edit and organise communications materials for easy access for reporting.

Fundraising systems & coordination:

  • Maintain accurate and organised records of grants, contracts, and key donor details.
  • Conduct targeted research on new funding opportunities and emerging prospects to strengthen Lafiya’s pipeline.

Partnerships:

  • Build and maintain relationships with aligned organisations and networks to identify opportunities for collaboration and greater shared impact, where organisations collaborating can achieve more than they could individually.
  • Co-create concept notes and proposals for partnerships in collaboration with identified partners.
  • Keep track of partnership conversations, ensuring smooth follow-up and documentation of next steps.

Who You Are

  • You are a writer.
  • A storyteller.
  • You can craft Lafiya’s vision into a compelling story, articulating our unique value proposition to a variety of stakeholders with different needs and goals.
  • Maybe you write short stories in your own time, or are an aspiring poet.
  • You brainstorm and spread creative ideas and shake up the status quo.
  • You know how to customise messaging to different audiences.
  • You have meticulous attention to detail, and can comfortably and persuasively communicate complex messages in a way tailored for different audiences.
  • You have an eye for visual design and can create visually appealing materials to amplify Lafiya’s work.
  • You are smart and eager to learn, and full of energy to start a new challenge.

Education and Experience

  • Completed bachelor’s degree
  • You can demonstrate (through formal or self-taught education) that you are a fast learner and a creative storyteller
  • You have launched and completed an independent project that shows your drive, determination and grit

Skills & Personal Qualities:

  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills in English
  • You have a natural ability to connect with people and can tailor communication to their preferred style and values
  • You have a quantitative aptitude and can translate data into visuals
  • Creative thinker with an eye for visual presentation and design and attention to detail, demonstrated through a creative craft (e.g. photography, graphic design, creative writing, etc)
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise and deliver results under pressure and short timelines
  • Comfortable engaging with internal and external stakeholders (team members, donors, partners), demonstrating confidence and professionalism
  • Proactive and self-motivated, capable of working independently, ensuring follow-through on all initiatives
  • Connected to our mission: You believe deeply in the work and can speak about it authentically
  • Proficiency with or willingness to learn to use digital work tools, including Google Workspace and Slack.

We value your time and aim to make our recruitment process as insightful as possible. It includes:

  • Stage 1: Application Form & Assessment. Share your CV and complete a 40-minute multiple-choice quiz to assess your fit for the role. There is an opportunity to upload writing and design samples to showcase your writing style.
  • Stage 2: Test Task. Engage in a 2-3 hour task that mirrors the kind of work you'll do with us.
  • Stage 3: Interview. This is the final stage, after which we’ll make offers. All candidates will be asked the same questions in a 1-hour interview, and you’ll get the questions in advance. It will also be an opportunity for you to ask us questions.

Benefits

  • Salary: N500,000 Monthly.
  • 30 days’ of paid annual leave
  • Fully paid maternity leave
  • Bonus compensation scheme up to a two full months of additional pay based on performance
  • Flexibility in where, when and how you work
  • Working closely with a team of senior leaders who are collaborative, ambitious and serious about impact.
  • HMO insurance cover, travel reimbursements, possibility of a co-working space.
