The Contracts Engineer shall be responsible for the management of contracts and agreements, ensuring they are strategically sourced, competitively tendered, and robustly administered.
This role safeguards Company's commercial and legal interests, mitigates contractual risk, and fosters strong, performance-driven relationships with vendors and clients to support successful project execution and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
Shall be responsible for driving the entire contract lifecycle, from initial tender to final close-out, ensuring all agreements are strategically sound and administratively robust.
Shall support the CCM Lead in piloting the end-to-end tender process, including the preparation of Invitations to Tender (ITT) and coordination of pre-bid meetings and clarifications.
Shall participate in conducting thorough technical and commercial bid evaluations, prepare award recommendations for the management consideration
Shall actively participate in managing performance, correspondence, variations, and fostering strong, performance-driven relationships with vendors.
Shall administer the formal change management process for contracts, evaluating, and documenting all variations and change orders.
Shall review contractor invoices and payment certificates, verify alignment with contractual terms and actual work progress with the project management team.
Shall proactively identify, assess, and mitigate contractual risks while ensuring full compliance with company policies and relevant regulations.
Shall support the management of contractual claims and works with the project team to resolve disputes, maintaining comprehensive records throughout the process.
Shall support the contractual close-out of projects, and contribute to lessons learned to support the development of the Approved Vendor List (AVL).
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
% of contracts awarded within the approved budget and schedule.
Reduction in contractual disputes and claims.
Compliance with tender and contract management procedures.
Timeliness and accuracy of contract documentation and reporting.
Vendor performance feedback and contract close-out effectiveness.
Qualifications & Experience
Education: Bachelor's degree in Law, Business Administration, or any relevant course. A Master's degree or professional certification (e.g., CIPS, RICS) is highly desirable.
Experience: Minimum of 2-5 years of progressive experience in contract engineering or administration, specifically within the Oil & Gas, Energy, or EPCI project environment.
Technical Skills:
In-depth knowledge of contract law, different forms of contract (e.g., FIDIC, LOGIC, BIMCO), and contracting strategies.
Proven experience in tender preparation, bid evaluation, and contract negotiation.
Proficiency in using Vendor Management Systems and ERP systems.
Strong understanding of project management principles and project lifecycle.
