Role Accountabilities
Demand Tracking and Data Integrity:
Ensure accurate monitoring of maximum demand across customer segments using advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) and analytics tools.
Oversee data integration and validation from metering systems, SCADA, and billing platforms to guarantee accuracy, consistency, and timeliness.
Revenue Protection and Risk Mitigation:
Detect and prevent revenue losses due to inaccurate metering, incorrect tariff application, or demand manipulation.
Proactively identify and address risks related to demand mismanagement or billing discrepancies.
Regulatory Compliance and Tariff Alignment:
Ensure full compliance with applicable regulatory standards and tariff structures relating to demand billing.
Stay updated on evolving regulatory requirements and ensure alignment with internal processes and revenue models.
Reporting and Stakeholder Communication:
Prepare timely and accurate reports on demand trends, revenue impact, and audit readiness for internal and external stakeholders.
Support data submissions for audits, regulatory reviews, and performance evaluations.
System Support and Infrastructure Management:
Support the deployment, operation, and maintenance of demand metering infrastructure and analytics platforms.
Develop contingency plans for metering system failures or high-demand customer disruptions.
Process Improvement and Optimization:
Identify and implement improvements in tools, processes, and systems to enhance efficiency in MD monitoring and revenue assurance.
Contribute to long-term planning and development of policies for demand and revenue optimization.
Digitization and Automation Initiatives:
Lead or support projects aimed at digitizing and automating demand tracking, billing accuracy, and revenue recovery workflows.
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, Energy Management, or a related field.
Minimum of 2 – 4 years experience in electricity distribution, commercial operations, metering, or energy management.
Skills & Competencies:
Ability to interpret and analyze maximum demand data (kW/kVA) from meters.
Understand how MD impacts billing and system load.
Proficiency in using and managing smart metering systems.
Knowledge of meter communication protocols.
Familiarity with MD-capable meters and integration with head-end systems.
Experience with SCADA, EMS platforms for real-time data monitoring.
Understanding of load curves, power factor, and load factor optimization.
Ability to identify and investigate MD-related revenue losses.
Knowledge of techniques for minimizing non-technical losses (e.g., meter tampering, billing errors).
Familiarity with billing software.
Ability to reconcile metered data with billing records.
Use of automated tools or manual checks to detect Underbilling due to MD capping errors, Wrong tariff application and Missing MD registers or invalid meter reads.
Ability to diagnose metering issues such as errors, bypasses, or synchronization failures.
