The establishment of the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital in April 1980 came as a result of the desire of the Federal Government to provide excellent medical services, manpower training, and research in all the geopolitical zones of the country. The mandate of the Hospital was derived from Decree 10 of 1985, University Teaching Hospitals (reconstitution of Board etc) Decree. Our Hospital's vision is "To be a first-rate world-class Hospital" and its mission statement is "To provide excellent Medical Services, Manpower Training, and Research, using a well trained and well-motivated workforce and the best affordable modern technology with a culture of courtesy, humanness, and patient friendliness".

Job Title: Chief Medical Director / CEO
Location: Port Harcourt, Rivers
Responsibilities
The Chief Medical Director is the Head/Chief Executive of the institution. He is accountable to the Board of Management and the Coordinating Minister of Health & Social Welfare.
The Chief Medical Director is charged with the responsibility of the execution of policies and matters affecting the day-to-day management of the hospital.
Requirements
Interested Candidates must have the following qualifications:
Candidate must be a Medical or Dental Practitioner registered with the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN) with not less than Twelve (12) years post-graduation;
Candidate must possess current practicing License from MDCN;
Candidate must be a fellow of either the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria or West African Postgraduate Medical College, or its equivalent, registered by the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria;
Candidate must have been a Consultant for a minimum of Five (5) years;
Candidate must be medically fit (Attach Evidence);
Candidate must be of proven good character and integrity:
Evidence of Medical Researches is an added advantage;
Administrative qualification and experience are added advantages:
Knowledge of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) is an added advantage:
Attraction of funded grants by individual candidate is an added advantage.
Salary and Allowances
Salary and allowances will be in accordance with the Public Service Salary Structure for this category of Officer.

The candidate should endorse his/her Vision Statement for the Hospital for the next four (4) years in not more than 1000 words.
The Curriculum Vitae must include the names and addresses of Three (3) referees, one of whom must be a Senior Medical or Dental Practitioner of NOT LESS than Twenty (20) years post qualification experience and who should be in a position to attest to the candidate's academic, professional and managerial abilities as well as moral character and uprightness. This should be accompanied by recommendation letters from the referees.
