Job Title: Crane Operator
Location: Shagamu, Ogun

Job Summary
The Crane Operator is responsible for operating and maintaining cranes and lifting equipment to move, load, unload, or position heavy materials safely and efficiently at construction sites, warehouses, factories, or ports.
The role requires precision, safety awareness, and adherence to operational procedures and regulatory standards.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Operation of Cranes:
Operate different types of cranes (mobile, tower, overhead, or truck-mounted) to lift, move, and position materials safely.
Determine load weights and ensure lifting capacities are not exceeded.
Use hand signals, radio, or other communication methods to coordinate movements with signalers and riggers.
Equipment Inspection and Maintenance:
Conduct pre-operation and post-operation equipment inspections to ensure functionality and safety compliance.
Report mechanical issues or malfunctions to the maintenance team immediately.
Perform minor repairs and routine maintenance as required.
Safety and Compliance:
Follow company and government safety regulations and operational procedures.
Ensure that all loads are properly secured and balanced before lifting.
Maintain awareness of overhead hazards, ground stability, and weather conditions.
Load Handling and Coordination:
Work closely with riggers, signalers, and site supervisors to execute lifting plans safely.
Set up cranes and rigging equipment according to project requirements.
Position loads precisely as directed by the site engineer or supervisor.
Record Keeping:
Maintain accurate records of operations, fuel usage, maintenance, and load data.
Complete daily crane logs and safety inspection sheets.
Workplace Collaboration:
Communicate effectively with team members to ensure safe and efficient site operations.
Participate in safety meetings and training sessions.
Qualifications and Requirements
Education: Minimum of SSCE / Technical School Certificate.
Experience: 2–5 years of experience operating cranes in a construction, manufacturing, or port environment.
Licenses/Certification: Valid Crane Operator’s Certificate or Equipment Operator’s License from a recognized authority.
Technical Skills:
Strong understanding of load charts, lifting techniques, and rigging procedures.
Ability to operate hydraulic, mobile, and tower cranes.
Familiarity with occupational health and safety standards.
Physical Requirements:
Physically fit with good eyesight, coordination, and alertness.
Ability to work at heights and in various weather conditions.
