The Procurement and Logistics Officer will support the end-to-end procurement, transportation, and distribution of project materials and equipment for the project.
The role will ensure that goods are sourced cost-effectively, and transported efficiently, and distributed promptly to the project site, maintaining 100% compliance with company standards, regulations, and project timelines.
Key Responsibilities
Procurement Support and Sourcing:
Assist in sourcing, evaluating, and selecting suppliers for construction materials, medical equipment, and consumables.
Obtain and compare quotations to ensure cost efficiency, quality, and timely delivery.
Liaise with the head of procurement to prepare purchase orders (POs) and ensure adherence to company procurement policies and approval limits.
Maintain up-to-date vendor and price lists for frequently purchased items.
Liaise with suppliers to confirm delivery schedules and resolve any supply delays or quality issues.
Logistics and Transportation Management:
Coordinate the transportation and movements of materials and equipment.
Support freight and forwarding processes, ensuring compliance with Nigerian Customs and other relevant authorities.
Plan and coordinate local deliveries to the project site.
Warehouse and Distribution Alignment:
Work closely with the Inventory Supervisor to synchronize inbound and outbound material movements.
Ensure all deliveries are accurately received, recorded, and transferred to the site warehouse.
Monitor distribution schedules to ensure materials reach work fronts on time.
Support proper documentation of materials received and issued for transparency and audit readiness.
Documentation and Compliance:
Maintain comprehensive records of purchase orders, delivery notes, invoices, and customs clearance documentation.
Ensure 100% compliance with company procurement procedures, ethical sourcing, and regulatory requirements.
Prepare weekly procurement and logistics status reports for project management review.
Support audit processes and maintain complete traceability of all transactions.
Coordination and Communication:
Collaborate with the procurement, finance, inventory, and construction teams to align purchasing with project priorities.
Provide regular logistics updates to the line manager and identify potential supply chain risks.
Support vendor and freight partner relationship management to ensure dependable service delivery.
Requirements / Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree preferably in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or related field. Candidates without a related degree must have proven, relevant experience (7 years) in procurement, logistics, or supply chain operations for major construction or industrial projects.
Experience: 7 years of procurement and logistics experience, preferably in construction, healthcare, or infrastructure projects.
Strong negotiation, vendor management, and contract administration skills.
Proficiency in ERP/procurement systems and logistics tracking tools.
Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
High integrity, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure.
Skills and Competencies
Strong understanding of the end-to-end supply chain (procurement, logistics, warehousing, distribution).
Ability to coordinate with multiple stakeholders (suppliers, freight forwarders, warehouse, site teams).
High data accuracy and documentation discipline.
Effective problem-solving and risk mitigation skills.
Team-oriented and proactive mindset, working collaboratively under supervision and tight deadlines.
