Job Summary
The Pharmaceutical Sales Representative drives product demand and market penetration through effective engagement with healthcare professionals and key retail outlets.
The role requires a persuasive communicator who understands both science and sales — turning prescriptions into partnerships and relationships into revenue.
Key Responsibilities
Sales & Promotion:
Promote assigned pharmaceutical products to doctors, pharmacists, and other healthcare providers through regular visits.
Achieve assigned sales targets and market share objectives for each product line.
Implement marketing plans, campaigns, and product strategies within assigned territory.
Ensure adequate product visibility, availability, and merchandising in pharmacies and hospitals.
Territory Management:
Develop and maintain a call plan and customer list within assigned territory.
Conduct route planning to ensure efficient and consistent coverage of customers.
Maintain accurate records of customer interactions and territory performance.
Customer Engagement:
Build and maintain long-term relationships with healthcare professionals and distributors.
Provide detailed product information, samples, and promotional materials.
Organize clinical meetings, product presentations, and roundtable discussions to increase product awareness.
Respond promptly to product inquiries and customer feedback.
Reporting & Documentation:
Prepare and submit daily/weekly call reports, activity summaries, and expense returns.
Monitor competitor activities, pricing, and product trends.
Provide feedback to management on field developments and emerging opportunities.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
Achievement of monthly and quarterly sales targets.
Territory growth and prescription generation.
Frequency and quality of customer calls.
Market intelligence reports and responsiveness.
Compliance with reporting standards and ethical marketing practices.
Qualifications & Requirements
Education: B.Sc. in Pharmacy, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Physiology, or related field.
Experience: 1–2 years experience in pharmaceutical sales or marketing (FMCG sales experience may be considered).
Skills:
Strong communication and presentation skills.
Sound knowledge of pharmacology and medical terminology.
Ability to build professional relationships with key stakeholders.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools.
Strong negotiation and persuasion skills.
Other: Must possess a valid driver’s license and be willing to travel frequently.
Salary
N100,000 - N400,000 / month.
