Job Title: Laboratory Microbiologist

Responsibilties

• Maintenance of daily calibration record of relevant microbiological equipment.
• Periodic validation of relevant microbiological equipment.
• Microbiological assessment of site raw water, process water and cooling tower based on schedule.
• Environmental monitoring and sanitization/aerial fumigation of Personal Care Factory based on agreed schedule.
• Microbiological assessment of relevant raw materials, packaging materials and finished products.
• Sanitization of machines and other equipment based on agreed schedule.
• System release of finished products requiring microbial clearance in the absence of the laboratory supervisor
• Maintain clean and updated record of calibration of relevant equipment.
• Maintain clean and updated record of validation of relevant equipment.
• Maintain clean and updated record of site water, process water and cooling water microbial results.
• Maintain clean and updated record of RM, PM and FG microbial results.
• Maintain clean and updated record of machines and other equipment sanitization results.
• Maintain clean and updated record of machines and other equipment sanitization results.
• Ensure system release of FG during weekends and whenever laboratory supervisor is not around.

Required Experience

• Qualifications: HND. / BSc Degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology / Microbiology, SLT
• Very good computer skills (especially Excel, word, power-point, and access packages)
• 2-3 years experience
• Strong communication skills.
• Good knowledge of scientific principles, microbiology, and biology, with a firm grasp of the latest scientific literature available in their field
• Expertise on the quality control aspects of microbiological testing, such as statistics and protocols
• An understanding of growth and reproduction factors of pathogens and other microorganisms, as well as how they affect cosmetics and other consumable items that are tested
• Very good in handling numbers/figures.
• Ability to spot improvement opportunities fast.
• Good time management skills.
• Good interpersonal skills.
