Job Title: Head of Commercial - Public Sector

Location: Lagos

Job Objective

  • Are you a strategic leader with a proven track record of driving revenue growth and shaping winning commercial strategies?
  • We are seeking an experienced and visionary Head of Commercial – Public Sector to lead our commercial operations and drive strategic growth across public sector businesses.
  • This role is pivotal in expanding our market presence, building strong partnerships with government and institutional clients, and ensuring profitability across diverse business units.
  • As a leader in digitalization and transformation solutions, we empower public institutions to modernize operations, enhance service delivery, and achieve greater efficiency through enterprise and SaaS technologies. The Head of Commercial – Public Sector will play a central role in positioning our company as the preferred partner for government digital transformation initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Commercial Strategy & Growth:
    • Develop and execute a robust commercial strategy aligned with the company’s vision, growth targets, and market opportunities.
    • Identify and prioritize high-value markets, sectors, and client segments for business expansion.
    • Drive revenue growth through new client acquisition, cross-selling, and strategic partnerships.
  • Sales Leadership & Performance Management:
    • Lead and inspire the commercial, sales, and business development teams to achieve ambitious performance targets.
    • Design and implement scalable sales frameworks, performance metrics, and incentive structures.
    • Oversee key enterprise accounts and negotiate large-scale digital transformation contracts.
  • Strategic Partnerships & Alliances:
    • Build and manage high-impact partnerships with technology vendors, channel partners, and system integrators.
    • Identify co-marketing, co-selling, and innovation opportunities to strengthen market positioning.
  • Product Commercialization & Market Positioning:
    • Collaborate with product, technology, and marketing teams to define pricing models, packaging, and go-to-market strategies for SaaS and enterprise offerings.
    • Translate technical solutions into clear commercial value propositions for clients and stakeholders.
    • Monitor industry trends, competitor movements, and market dynamics to ensure strategic agility.
  • Customer & Market Intelligence:
    • Leverage data-driven insights to anticipate client needs, emerging technologies, and digital transformation trends.
    • Champion customer success by ensuring delivery alignment between commercial promises and operational execution.
  • Leadership & Collaboration:
    • Partner with the CEO and Executive Team to shape company strategy, culture, and growth roadmap.
    • Mentor and build a high-performance commercial organization rooted in accountability, innovation, and excellence.

Requirements

  • Experience and Qualification:
    • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Technology, or related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
    • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in commercial leadership, sales, or business development roles within technology, SaaS, or enterprise solutions sectors.
    • Proven track record of driving revenue growth, market expansion, and large enterprise deal closures.
    • Strong understanding of digital transformation, SaaS business models, enterprise software, and B2B technology sales cycles.
    • Exceptional strategic thinking, financial acumen, and executive communication skills.
    • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and operate in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Required Skills and Competencies:
    • Leadership: Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage a high-performing team.
    • Strategic Mindset: Ability to develop and implement sales strategies that align with overall business objectives.
    • Communication Skills: Excellent negotiation, presentation, and communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
