Job Title: Community Advisor

Job Summary
The Community Advisor will play a key role in facilitating community engagement, mobilization, and participation in project activities. He will serve as a vital link between the project team and local communities, ensuring that interventions are responsive to community needs and implemented in a culturally sensitive and inclusive manner.
The position requires excellent interpersonal skills, local knowledge, and the ability to improve collaboration among community members, partners, and stakeholders to achieve project goals.
Job Responsibilities
Facilitate community entry, mobilization, and participation in project activities.
Build and maintain strong relationships with community leaders, groups, and local stakeholders to foster trust and collaboration.
Serve as the primary point of contact between the project and target communities, ensuring two-way communication and feedback.
Support the identification and engagement of beneficiaries in line with project selection criteria.
Conduct community sensitization, awareness sessions, and outreach on project objectives, interventions, and benefits.
Gather and relay information on community needs, priorities, challenges, and emerging issues to guide project planning and adjustments.
Assist in the organization and facilitation of meetings, trainings, and focus group discussions within communities.
Work closely with the monitoring and evaluation team to support data collection, documentation, and reporting of field activities.
Promote inclusion, gender sensitivity, and accountability throughout community engagement processes.
Support the resolution of conflicts or grievances that may arise during project implementation.
Collaborate with field and technical teams to ensure quality delivery of project outputs.
Document success stories, lessons learned, and feedback from community engagements.
Qualifications/Job Requirements
Bachelor’s degree or Higher National Diploma (HND) in Social Sciences, Community Development, Rural Sociology, Public Administration, or a related field.
Minimum of 2 years’ experience in community engagement, mobilization, or development work, preferably within NGO or donor-funded projects.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse community groups.
Demonstrated experience in facilitating meetings, trainings, or awareness campaigns.
Good understanding of local contexts, cultural dynamics, and community structures.
Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and basic reporting.
Fluency in English and relevant local language(s) is an asset.
Willingness to travel frequently to project sites and work in rural or hard-to-reach communities.
