Job Title: Head of IT Solution Development

Location: Lagos
Direct Report: Business Manager

Role Summary

• To drive the design, development and implementation of digital and software solutions in line with Business Goals and Objectives.

Key Accountabilities

• Design and develop innovative software solutions and ensure end-to-end integration across all our products in line with business needs.
• Manage the existing technical architecture of the company’s web platforms, APIs and integrated systems to ensure efficiency, maintain security and long-term scalability.
• Collaborate with the CITSO and Business units to understand operational goals and convert them into practical technology driven solutions while ensuring timely delivery, quality standards and continuous optimization.
• Enforce best practices in data protection, cybersecurity and software compliance to ensure all IT solutions meet industry standards.
• Continuously research and recommend new tools, frameworks and digital trends relevant to EdTech and IT Training and solutions.Proactively propose forward-thinking software initiatives that keeps HiiT ahead in Technology innovation.

Qualifications and Experience

• Education- Minimum of first degree (2/2 minimum) in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related field.
• Experience- Minimum of 5 years in IT Solution development with at least 2 years proven experience as a Team Lead.
• Industry- Service (EdTech, FinTech, Telecoms, Education, Insurance, etc).

Skills and Competencies:

• Personal Qualities- Passionate and Self-Motivated Personality with exemplar innovative, excellent analytical and problem-solving skills and attention to details.
• Proven commercial experience in PHP(object-oriented). Knowledge of PHP frameworks such as Laravel or Symfony is a Plus.
• Strong knowledge of Java, specifically with the Spring Boot framework.
• Hands-on experience developing and customizing WordPress websites (themes and plugins).
• Solid experience with Linux server administration.
• Proficiency in configuring and managing web servers (Apache and/or Nginx).
• Strong proficiency in SQL and experience with relational databases (e.g. MySQL, PostgreSQL).
• Proficiency in core web technologies: HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript and Fluency in using Git for source code management in a collaborative team environment. Knowledge of React, Vue.js or Angular is a plus.
• Experience with Scala, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), Understanding of CI/CD pipelines, exposure to NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, Redis) are desirable skills.
• Communication skills- Ability to work collaboratively in a team and communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
