Godiya Cherished Care for Humanitarian Response Initiative (GCCHRI) is a non-profit and a non-governmental organization founded in 2022 by a group of young researchers. Our core mission is to elevate community health standards through a multifaceted approach encompassing research, advocacy, health promotion and education, community development, capacity building, program evaluation, impact assessments, needs analysis, baseline/midline/endline surveys, systems strengthening, and targeted service delivery. Our focus extends particularly to the vulnerable and marginalized populations in Nigeria and beyond.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:
Job Title: Nutrition Officer
Location: Borno
Duration: 6 Months – Extendable
Description
The Nutrition Officer will play a crucial role in implementing nutrition programs within our humanitarian setting.
You will work closely with other members of the GCCHRI team to ensure that nutrition interventions are effectively integrated into broader health and food security initiatives.
The primary focus will be on addressing malnutrition, promoting healthy eating habits, and supporting vulnerable populations, particularly women and children, in accessing essential nutrients.
Key Responsibilities
Ensure quality of nutrition screening for children under-5 conducted by Community Nutrition Mobilizers in target Communities.
Ensure quality of IYCF counselling sessions provided individual level and group sessions
With support from the Nutrition Officer, ensure quality cooking food demonstration sessions are conducted in Project supported Communities.
Ensure that community nutrition interventions (MUAC screening and Referral, IYCF, monitor mother to mother/ father to father support groups, food demonstrations) and hygiene promotion are integrated · Build capacity of CNMs/ and Mother Leaders by providing on-the-job training on CMAM and IYCF.
Support Project level nutrition assessment/surveys as approved by Donor.
Support quality data collection of activities conducted in the Communities.
Promote increasing awareness of appropriate nutrition behaviours in the communities.
Ensure quality and timely reporting on all areas of implementation
Liaise closely with the MEAL team so as to understand the project outcomes
Strengthen eternal stakeholder engagement including district local governments to strengthen nutrition programming.
Participate in national level nutrition technical working group discussions as may be required by the Project Coordinator.
Support the development of case studies and success stories from programme implementation.
Frequent visits to Bama and Dikwa to monitor the progress of the ongoing project, training of CNMs and supervision of the established groups.
Any other additional responsibility as communicated by the supervisor
Academic Qualification and Requirements
Degree or HND in Nutrition, Health, Public Health or any related fields.
Experience in Nutrition and community-based programming will be an added advantage
Familiarity with the Humanitarian context.
Excellent communication skills and a willingness to be respectful, kind, sensitive and empathize with all beneficiaries and their care givers
Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities
Proven experience in computer systems and network administration
Previous experience from working in complex and volatile contexts
Team management
Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities
Fluency in English required; knowledge of Hausa or local languages is an asset.
